What kind of clothes are worn by young boys and men in madrassah's? What kind of clothes was the delivery boy wearing who went to deliver food to boys hostel and got gang raped the whole night? To blame women's clothes is to deny that boys and men can be victims too.
You have to be a special kind of pervert or worse, deeply privilleged and entitled to assume that

All those cooking up conspiracy theories because victim identity is not being disclosed please note that the law requires that identity NOT BE DISCLOSED. Such is our internalised need to put a name and face to a tragedy that we cannot imagine empathising while maintaining privacy

What makes a woman so dispensible for men is what makes them resort to such henious crimes against them. Women still objectified, treated as property and not as a person in her own right. This must change.
@JamaliMaham
A crash course on "professional way to address colleagues" should be instituted. The profession could really benefit from trainings in these basics. I'm so sorry you had to go through this but speaking out about it is a great start and more of us should be talking about it.

Pakistani law students have taken to mooting and often qualify for international rounds but sadly at times teams are unable to represent Pakistan at these forums due to lack of support, especially in shape of funding and off course issues with visas.

What do you think is the scope of single individuals in our society? How awkward do you think it is for them to dine alone, be alone in public spaces, live by themselves etc? Does our way of life envisage existence & movement of persons only in groups, tribes, pairs & families?

Was invited by honourable speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Women’s Parliamentary Caucus to attend the National Conference for 75th independence day of Pakistan to mark contributions of women and women parliamentarians at the NA of Pakistan earlier today.
This policy is being criticized as discriminatory to first generation lawyers. This needs to be reconsidered given that young lawyers and students from non-law backgrounds already have it so much harder to make it in the profession.
Some very accomplished and well educated women I know still, in this day and age, face the question of what need is there for them to work after they get married by their in-laws and these are like rich people saying this shit. Truly, money doesn't buy you decency.
@SohaNvd
I used to feel like a heavy boulder had been placed on my chest which I was unable to lift, one that seemed to be crushing my very soul. It was a hollow, deep and dark place where no light touched. I'm grateful to all those who helped me through that time.
@theqanoondan
Precedents from related jurisdictions are persuasive in nature and not binding. Learning from other jurisdictions surely cannot be a terrible thing. It's is imp not to lose sight of local as well as global context. I don't see the harm of referring to persuasive precedents per se

One of the most important elements to come out of the budget has been the focus on need for
#gender
responsive budgeting which we need to ensure that finances committed for advancement of women are spent as committed.
@MalBokhari
raises this pertinent issue very comprehensively.
Member National Assembly Barrister Maleeka Bokhari highlighting issues of Gender responsive budgeting in her budget speech. Govt needs to focus on inclusive budget & prioritize women & transgenders in budget.

At least 3 incidents of transit rape have surfaced on buses and trains in recent past. These are the ones that were reported and highlighted in media, in reality the number is likely to be even higher. This is extremely alarming.
I am absolutely not ok with analogy of forced marriages being used in relation to political context in a way that trivialises such a heinous lived reality of most marginalised of persons. Yes what is happening politically is condemnable in its own right but ...
Jinko qabil khawateen wukla nazar nahi aati, unkehliye khaas ailaan, well here are the women 👇 so now that you SEE them, what excuse do you have to not vote for them?
I have still to see official results on all 75 seats of punjab bar but I am being told no woman got elected. This is so unfortunate, last time we had 2 now we have none. Representation matters and the profession needs urgent reforms. (1)
Funny (or unfortunate?) how quick men are to point out that the 'day care' and not the 'assembly' is the right place for kids and yet when we call for the bill to introduce the same they say it's too costly for businesses; some even deny that assembly is a 'workplace' 1/2
Was invited as one of the experts by Senate Committee discussing amendments to this law on Dec 6 2021. Heartening to see that most of our recommendations have been included. They were passed by Senate & now the NA. So overjoyed :) Thank you
@ShireenMazari1
for the opportunity.
Today MoHR's The Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace (Amendment)Bill, 2022 as passed by the Senate was passed by NA again & will now go to President for signature. This is a significant strengthening of the existing law incl expanding def of workplace.

No no no... We don't tread into this culture debate line.... Because what is our culture anyway? Everyone does what suits them but everyone is quick to point fingers at others... THAT needs to stop.
