I’m pumped to share that our new paper in Biological Psychiatry is out! We dissected a novel astrocyte-neuron interaction in the ventral periaqueductal gray (vPAG) that maintains wakefulness involving norepinephrine and dopamine neurons🧵:

@Ella_Maru Thanks! We typically think of calcium activity in neurons as a readout of firing activity, but in astrocytes it’s not totally clear what the calcium doing. We infer there is “increased activity”, but more work needs to be done to better understand the role of astrocytic calcium.
