@LosAguilar4 @CIAggieSports Can do. NMSU had multiple crowds over 10,000 fans last season, the highest being 11,278 for a game against Jacksonville State. They only got 5,216 in the Pan Am for UTEP last year though, so this was better.

Hooten on Golding's change to making UTEP going under screens: "It was a tremendous job... That's the first time he's ever done that to me and I played against him 20 times. You got to give him credit. He felt like that was the only way they could beat us."
UTEP had the rebounding + paint points edge. NMSU did the same in EP, & Jason Hooten says Joe Golding rolled the dice on NMSU's missing 3s. "It had to do with their ball screen defense when they trap you and you make the pass. He said... 'I'm just going to go under everything.'"

Filipovity did not practice all week, according to Hooten. However, NMSU's coach believed he needed to trust his best players by starting him. "I guess I shouldn't have played him, but you know, he's been our best player," he said.
Jason Hooten says Peter Filipovity had the flu, and says that played a big part in the Aggies’ defeat tonight. “We played like a team that practiced all week long without their best player because he had the flu.“ Filipovity had 3 points, 2 rebounds and 5 fouls vs UTEP.

First UTEP win over NMSU in Las Cruces since 2010. Miners had lost 12 in a row at the Pan American Center before tonight.
Final: UTEP 66, NM State 63 So close for the Aggies. Miners miss a free throw and NMSU races down the other end before Christin Cook narrowly missed what would’ve been the tying 3-pointer. Was just that kind of night from the field. 30% FGs and 23% from 3.

Christian Cook responds with one of his own and gets a block on the other end. UTEP ball. 59-57 Miners lead. 38.6 seconds left. This is setting up to be one heck of a finish.
Ice cold trey from UTEP’s David Terrell Jr., and he celebrates accordingly. Not over yet, but the Miners now have a 59-54 lead with 1:18 to play.
