Rank and Rent / Lead Gen System:
1) Choose a niche + city combo
2) Select an exact or partial match domain
3) Submit to GSC
4) Rank!
5) Call a business owner and send a few free leads
6) Work out a lead gen payment structure (flat fee, commission, payment per job)
7) Scale!! 🚀
This is what you DON'T want to see in your Search Console reports.
You rank on page 1 for a top query.
The query gets a TONNE of impressions, showing great potential.
But you've gotten ZERO clicks in the past week.
That's not great!
Here's how you can fix it:
👇
🚫GetBusyGardening (dot) com has lost almost *200K* ranking keywords and 50% of their SEO traffic.
✅Site is owned by a published gardening author
✅Big social profile across FB, Twitter, Pinterest, etc
✅139K Pinterest followers!
Any ideas on why they've crashed? (I have one)
This is the power of an aged domain redirect. From 750k -> 2.64M impressions in 3 months.
Over 3x the clicks.
All low competition topics, but the speed of ranking always surprises me when I check!
Next test - how many more keyword variants will rank over the coming while 🚀
💹Niche Site Update (main site):

I found a site with huge potential in the education niche. VERY easy to launch and scale!
I am actually tempted to give this one a go myself.
Traffic is great. Content ridiculously easy to create. It dropped slightly in Sept but is on the way back up!

In 2021, I sold my first niche website on Empire Flippers for multiple 6 figures.
Original investment: approx. $20k. I built the site with simple $20 articles over 7 years.

In 2020, I made over $100k in display ads revenue from one website.
I sold it for multiple 6 figures a year later.
It took me 7 years to get there.
And, here are 7 ways I made it happen:
My current no. 1 goal is to get to Mediavine application eligibility…
1 year, 2 months after my first impression on Google, I’m almost there!!
Traffic is up 30% this past month.
Let’s turn this bad boy into a rocket ship 🚀
In November 2013, I came home from a holiday in Thailand to find less than $100 in my bank account💰
In July 2014, I started a simple website from my kitchen table.
It would go on to make me hundreds of thousands of dollars, ending in a multiple 6 figure sale.
Lessons learned:
When I publish a new article to my newest niche site, it ranks within 24-48 hours. Here's how I do it.
Notice: this is for sites that are at least a few months old, but you can do it with sites that are even newer (potentially).

9 fast tips for a better niche site in 2023
1. Spent 5-10x the time optimizing your posts as you do publishing
2. Hire 5-star writers you trust
3. Employ people, not AI (at least mainly)
4. Nail your search analysis
5. Go deeper than Ahrefs/SEMrush on KW research

Reasons *not* to use AI / Koala / ChatGPT for your articles:
1. AI tools are glorified article spinners.
2. If everyone is using the same systems, the results can only be so varied.
Won't everyone start sounding the same?

The most dangerous niche site strategy is targeting low competition keywords.
My new approach? Doing the hard stuff. Meaning:
1) An 80-20 mix of hard vs low competition topics
2) Manual outreach to content that *deserves links
*You know what that is (you just have to do it!).
Hit by the HCU, have a site making money but want a fresh start? Here's an idea I had this morning.
Say you're making ~$500/month:
-Sell site at around 40x to make $20K
-Hire passionate writers experts in their niche
-Invest the 20K into 200+ articles.
Rank & bank.

🔥I'm shooting for Mediavine by Christmas 2023.
My main site is at ~30K visits / month right now.
But traffic has gone flat since March (I'm sure you can maybe relate).
So, I'm putting the foot on the gas to get it to that magical 1.6K visits/day!
Who else is shooting for MV?
ChatGPT is pretty amazing.
Published a new blog post late yesterday.
Ranking in position 3 on Google today, two spots under a very high authority competitor.
Cost? $0.
Time to publish: 10-15 minutes.
🚀🚀
🎯New target goal: I will get my newest site to 50k sessions per month by July. Mainly through adding 200 new articles in <3 months.
The method:
✍️Loads and loads of new content
👴Leveraging the power of an aged domain
🎨Focus more on branding and UX

. Take a niche, and niche down. WAY down.
Pick a sub-niche of a big, broad niche. Home improvement is a big broad niche.
Roofing or flooring is a nice sub-niche within home improvement. I wouldn't go any more niche than one of those. Grab a broad-enough, relevant domain.
If you’re a niche site builder/digital builder, you’re smashing it no matter your revenue / traffic!
Think about all the skills you need to have:
✅ Topic research
✅ Content strategy
✅ Content development
✅ Data analysis & insights
✅ Competitor analysis
What else?
I hadn’t used AdSense in a *long* time.
But this week I’ve switched from using Ezoic to AdSense as a test, and RPMs are actually looking way better than I expected!!
Who else is using AdSense right now and how is it going for you?
🥴Some of the top niche site mistakes.
What's missing?
❌1. Getting too excited and starting multiple sites before the first one takes off.
❌2. Hiring poor quality writers.
❌3. Poor search analysis.
❌4. Choosing a limited niche.
❌5. Choosing too broad a niche!
❌6. ?
Woah! Just logged in to see my first ever commission from ShareASale - had no idea!
When affiliate marketing works, it's the most amazing business model in the world :)
How long people spend on your site is a key ranking factor (indirectly).
Here's a tip to improve it (will take you 5-10 SECONDS)
-> Go to YouTube
-> Grab a relevant quality video for your post
If it's good, people will watch it on your site, bumping up time spent on your site!
Are you using aged domains?
My top 2024 prediction: one of the top ways to succeed with content sites will be aged domains.
This domain will be 25 years old next year 😮
Traffic is still low but the trend is improving all the time.
Past 3 months:
✔️The average position moved
Not all my sites are smashing it.
But this one is!
Here my latest update👇
Past 3 months:
✅Impressions up 164%
✅Clicks up a massive 207%
✅Average CTR 1.7% (up from 1.5%)
✅Average position 11.4 (up from 12.2)

, did you shake up the barrel and see what's emerged?! SERPs full of UGC with single-sentence answers and other random sites that are just flat-out terrible results for queries. I have examples if you need!
This latest Google update was cataclysmic. That word sounds like it could be awesome, but it ain't!
It was an eye-opener for me, and I'm already focusing on creating content based on personal experience.
What is your plan? Stick with your strategy, or pivot?
🚀Could I be on the road to applying to Mediavine?
A month or so ago, I passed the 25K visits/month mark.
Have seen a slight decrease in daily visits over the past week, but that looks to be from a drop in visits to a couple of pages.
What do your past 30 day stats look
Outranked by Reddit!
I was ranking no.2 for a big keyword, behind a large competitor.
Reddit was position 3.
Now Google has decided Reddit is doing best at addressing the search intent for the keyword! (For now).
What I'll test: include some of the Reddit quotes in my post :)
You can also test other elements such as introducing low ranking queries into your article (especially in the opening paragraphs), but that's too long to cover here.

🔥I've managed to increase my social traffic by 640% in the past 7 days.
*Now, that's from 10 visits to 74 visits, but that's not the point!
Here's why you should care about driving traffic from sources other than Search:
✅ It shows you are building a brand, a REAL business.
Koala got my articles ranking again! I've decided to grab a Gold Pack. I'll get 2,500 1K word articles for around $5 each :)
Posts which disappeared returned overnight. My process:
1) Use Koala to write a new post
2) Submit to GSC
That's replacing content, not optimising! 👇

. You have your niche from step 1. Let's say you chose roofing. Roofing is going to be the first category on your new site.
Next, open a spreadsheet and put "Article titles" at the top of the first column.
You're now going to choose 20 low-competition topics to write about.
If you’re serious about what you’re working on, you should be able to see yourself working on it for the next 3 years.
Consistently.
No? Then it’s time for a different project.
Here is the performance of my newest site over the past 30 days.
And here are 3 powerful factors that will determine whether or not you are successful with niche sites:
1. Content velocity.
As
@nickfromseattle
says, content velocity just works!
I published 23 posts during my first month.
The following month, I published 55.
This really got the ball rolling as it makes Google take notice.
Adopt The 50K RULE (today)💥
The no.1 mistake we content publishers make?
Not focusing on JUST 1 site🚫
I'm approaching 50K visits/month
I started focusing on this one site exclusively in the past few weeks.
✅Pick ONE site & go all in
✅Get to 50K visits/month, THEN expand
How to build a site post-HCU
Old way
-90%+ low-competition keywords
-SEO-everything (write for Google)
-Don't do outreach/seek partnerships
New way
-Ask yourself: what if Google didn't exist?
-Inch-wide, mile-deep with content & structure
-Organic outreach/build relationships
I have a site in a big niche that was in decline since December (it was growing steadily up to then).
But it looks like Google changed its mind in the March Core Update..
I changed basically nothing since December.
Just shows, don't react - WAIT! ⛔️ Give it at least 3 months.
🔥In 2023 so far, I've generated $2.5K in commissions from 150 clicks with just ONE affiliate program.
I get my writers to use a proven template I created for ALL my online program reviews.
You can get it for free in the following tweet (it's 10 pages long).
🚀🚀
My site is in a tough niche! But look how it's taking off...
-Only 20 posts, very little content added in the past year
-Unaffected by HCU and has grown since then through the updates
-The spike in the last few weeks is from new high-authority links.
The irony is that
All you need to grow a content business in 2023:
-Laptop
-Domain
-Hosting account
-Articles
-Consistency
-Determination
-Patience
And 5000 cups of coffee ☕️ 💰

. Once you have your first 10 topics that are truly low competition (careful with this), you're ready to write (or to outsource, if budget allows).
Upload and publish as quickly as possible.
The sooner you publish, the sooner you see what's ranking - what's working.
I just unsubscribed from a huge creator’s mailing list because they just email_too_much.
I WANT to hear from you.
I just don’t want that to be more than I hear from some of my closest friends!

About to hit a big milestone: 1,000 followers!
THANK YOU all.
I am really enjoying posting and sharing. I hope that my tweets are useful and you are picking up some tips (and maybe some inspiration) as you scroll :)
💡I have an article that has never performed very well. It's human-written & gets around 10 visits/month!
There is nothing "wrong" with it. It just doesn't flow all that well.
I've just replaced it with new copy from Koala. Let's see what happens over the coming days and weeks!
#3
. There are so many ways to find low-comp topics. One route is to just use Google - it's 100% free! (Well, the price is your data, but that's for another day).
Pro tip: google "roofing questions". This works because question-based articles are generally far easier to rank.
Some tools I could not be without in this game 👇
