Today, our team, led by Assistant Foreman Kyle Surette, came across a beautiful Barred Owl perched on Route 125. Kyle ensured its safety and reached out to Fish & Game for support. The owl has regained its bearings and took flight once more.

The NHDOT has 700 plow trucks working to clear 9,000 lane miles of state highways. We expect snow on the roads behind our plow trucks during the storm. Travelers should use caution, reduce speeds, increase following distance, and allow extra time to reach their destination.
Significant snowfall expected today through early Wednesday. Snowfall rates 1"+ inch an hour at times. Gusty winds and blizzard conditions along the coast. Splash-over and beach erosion with morning and evening high tides.

Flood Warnings continue for several northern New Hampshire rivers. Flooding from the Pemigewasset River has closed NH 175A in Holderness near Exit 25 of I-93 on Easter morning.
We are working hard to keep NH safe. If you dont have to travel, please stay off the roads. If you need to travel- please go slow! Leave plenty of space between you and other cars and don't crowd the plow.
And as we head into Sunday evening, NHDOT would like to take a moment to remember our employee Brent Jackson. We lost Brent 15 years ago today while he was in the service of the State of New Hampshire.
Brent and his family will always be in our thoughts.

Travel Advisory: On Sat July 6th - Hundreds of motorcycles will be participating in the Ride for the Fallen 7 from noon to 3 pm. Several local Laconia roads, and Routes 104, 93 and 2 will see an increase in motorcycle traffic. Motorists should expect delays and seek alt routes.
As the heavy wet snow continues to fall throughout NH, so do posted speedlimits on roadways.

The Alton Bay Ice Runway on Lake Winnipesaukee is cleared for a landing. The only FAA ice runway in the lower 48 states has opened for the 2018 season. Runway surface conditions - "all ice no snow very slick."

Congestion relief! A new northbound third lane was opened this morning on the Spaulding Turnpike over the Little Bay Bridge in Newington and Dover. Also a new Exit 6 northbound off-ramp to US 4 has opened. All part of Spaulding Turnpike improvements.
