No word of farewell was spoken between Daemon and Nettles, but as Sheepstealer flew away, Caraxes let out a scream that shattered all the windows of Jonquil's Tower.

George RR Martin answering questions about Nettles and any characters he’d like to explore more.
“… F&B in particular, in its nature as a history meant I was summarizing things.”
“….I could write a whole novel about that character”

Nettles was a small, skinny, brown-skinned girl with black hair and brown eyes. She had crooked teeth and a scarred nose. She was foul mouthed, filthy, and fearless.
“What choices have you made in terms of casting him and other key characters from “Fire & Blood” who haven’t appeared or been mentioned yet, like Nettles?”
Ryan Condal’s usual bad answer. How are you running the show but not thinking ahead? 🤨
George R.R. Martin on screenwriters and producers interpreting book adaptations as their own:
“Then they make the story their own. They never make it better, though. Nine hundred ninety-nine times out of a thousand, they make it worse.”

@GRRMspeaking
has made it clear how Nettles, has a much bigger role in Fire & Blood than what some book readers may have perceived or claim. Her life post dance is very intriguing…..
It is unknown how they spent their last night together, but at dawn Daemon helped Nettles saddle Sheepstealer one last time. Nettles killed a large black ram and fed it to her dragon, then tearfully flew Sheepstealer into the morning mists of the Bay of Crabs.
Random theories about Nettles: 🧵
•Nettles is Leaf
•Nettles is a witch
•Nettles is Daemon’s paramour
•Nettles is Daemon’s bastard

When they weren’t flying or bathing together, Daemon gifts to Nettles “an ivory-handled hairbrush, a silvered looking glass, a cloak of rich brown velvet bordered in satin, a pair of riding boots of leather soft as butter”

Though both girls live through the male dominated society of Westeros facing sexism, Nettles is an older lowborn bastard with a willful personality. She’s considered an adult while Rhaena is 14 years old and a more compliant royal girl who lives a different life than Nettles.
These are basic differences the girls have and there’s more to go in depth over. Nettles and Rhaena are not interchangeable. 😊 They are both survivors with some form of relationship with Daemon, serving different themes and purposes in ASOIAF
Rhaena is more inclined to subtly use politics to get what she wants. Nettles uses street smarts and creativity to get what she wants. She’s able to claim a dragon in a way no one else achieved. This is to set up potential of other non-Targaryen characters riding dragons.

The actress is apparently in another HBO project with Fabian Frankel. She’s not Nettles unless HBO is lying and suddenly got airtight security.
Apart of Nettles story, similar to Brienne in GOT, is her features being deemed unattractive. She doesn’t fit the standard of beauty which serves a purpose in how she’s treated and her relationship with Daemon because of his reputation for preferring silver haired women.
The acct who leaked that Rhaena claims a dragon is suggesting she might claim a dragon that isn’t Sheepstealer.
“A sheep eating wild dragon” is the describing Sheepstealer but I realized it could be a misunderstanding. I don’t believe Nettles has been cut or merged with Rhaena
There’s narrative role in Rhaena being away from fighting, while Nettles takes an active role in battles. Nettles has no family and being the daughter of a sex worker in Westeros, she has no support. Her life turn is meeting Daemon who gifts her and she no longer has to steal.
“…I could write a story about them and I’ve been tempted to do many times. A character like Nettles you know who is a dragonrider in the dance. Where does she come from? Where does she go to? What is her life like after she fades from the public sphere?”- GRRM
Rhaena’s lack of a dragon leads to a stilted relationship with her father Daemon. While S1 set up a closer look into their relationship for Rhaena’s arc, it doesn’t affect the plot. Daemon’s life and actions ends with Nettles at the peak of the Dance, resulting in his death.
Nettles is named after a healing plant and claiming wild Sheepstealer shows her bravery for claiming him and how she’s in-tune with nature. Dragons are animals difficult to control so without magic, she’s able to achieve the power Valyrians believe they’re born with.
“The prince is more than fond of this brown child, and his dragon is close at hand. A wise lord would kill them both, lest the prince burn Maidenpool in his wroth.”
Or I believe they’re clearing up that Rhaena claiming Sheepstealer doesn’t mean she’s being merged with Nettles.
There’s very few black people in Westeros and I don’t think the two extra women shot in the dragonseed scene is a coincidence
Rhaena is the daughter of Daemon and Laena, and her Targaryen name and Valyrian features grants her privileges of a high born. She’s seen as beautiful in Westeros and granted honors based on this. Rhaena is kept safe by family members such as her sister and grandmother.
16 year old Nettles had crooked teeth, a foul mouth, and a scarred nose. According to Gyldayn, she could not be called pretty
16 year old Brienne's teeth were prominent and crooked. Brienne is unfeminine in appearance and is considered unattractive by Westerosi standards.
Rhaena coming into the public sphere and spending time with the commoners of King’s Landing after leaving the Vale directly contrast Nettles going to the Vale and being unseen, with the implication that she eventually goes across the narrow seas.
Sheepstealer is a large dragon important to the fighting in the Dance. He rides alongside Caraxes when looking for Aemond. Morning symbolizes a new hope, her name opposes Moondancer indicating Rhaena and her sister are different while Baela and Nettles have similar personalities.
Daemon gifted her fine gifts such as an ivory hairbrush, a silvered looking glass, a velvet and satin cloak, and riding boots
He finally assisted Nettles’ escape, and Daemon helped Nettles saddle Sheepstealer one last time.
Rhaena’s arc inlcudes longing for a hatchling like Baela. Morning‘s hatching is crucial for the symbolism of her birth, death, and sign of legitimacy. There’s narrative value in Morning being cheered one year after dragons were killed as a result of the smallfolk’s anger

“She is a common thing, with the stink of sorcery upon her. My prince would ne'er lay with such a low creature. You need only look at her to know she has no drop of dragon's blood in her. -with spells that she bound a dragon to her, and she has done the same with my lord husband”
