i think the destinction still works although on different definitions (i dont recall the last time i called a deck control because of its recovery)
This certainly isnt perfect and the lines keep blurring further due to every deck being able to slot more HTs but it works fine

Control, Midrange and Combo are completely meaningless terms in modern yugioh. Decks now are almost all designed to have midrange-style recovery, and when games end in 2-3 turns the style distinction is irrelevant.

A person realizing or not that Fenrir is the arguably best designed card ever is a really good test to see if you should just ignore all their takes, like if you want Fenrir hit I'm never taking anything you say serious again
this might be a hot take, but there should be MORE cards like fenrir that are good going first and going second, and they should make more archetype specific cards that have that quality too.

Floodgates = Infinite "interruption" = way to many "interruptions" = very bad
