Amen, Cheryl. David Sedaris once said "Signing books for 300 people a night isn't hard ... signing a book for 3 people? That's hard."
In my late 20s my wife left me and my best friend took his own life. I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep, and I lost 40 pounds due to stress. I started going to therapy twice a week and I began a blog called 1000 Awesome Things to try and cheer myself up. 1/
I wrote 1000 awesome things for 1000 straight days from 2008 - 2012.
I've decided to write another 1000 during the pandemic.
I will post them at 12:01am on socials and right here over email:
What's something you're finding awesome during the pandemic?
Universal Basic Income (UBI) is trending in Canada.
There is a huge push to convert the temporary $2k / month payments to those out of work into UBI for all. (As I understand it.)
For those of us who UBI is new to what do you recommend reading? Articles? Links? Books?
Thanks!
@proetrie
I mean, you gotta admire the honesty ... if it's honest. At most companies PIP roughly translates to "We want to fire you but don't have enough of a paper trail so how about we build one together"
I am kinda sorta maybe thinking of writing a new 1000 Awesome Things.
It would be one awesome thing a day about the pandemic.
Do you have any suggestions before I get working?
Or a possible awesome thing to include?

The problem isn’t that we have negative thoughts in our brain.
The problem is that we think we shouldn’t have negative thoughts.
It’s okay. Keep moving.
[NEW PODCAST ALERT!]
I am thrilled to drop a new chapter of 3 Books featuring the one and only

Please enjoy:
In Norway, Prime Minister Erna Solberg just held a press conference specifically for children.
For half an hour, she and her team answered questions submitted by kids across the country.
She told them it was normal to be scared but that everything would be okay.

I got another email from a teacher today asking for my permission to print and use my blog entries from in school assignments / homework, etc.
Yes, anyone, anytime, can use my blog posts in any way.
Go right ahead.
Posting this for all teachers, etc.
Hands-down the best podcast I've heard in a year.
Thank you, thank you
@tferriss
and
@sarahksilverman
for vulnerability on me-time, talking to yourself, brave enough to bomb, firing therapists, pinhole views. Such rare, vital conversations. A gift!

We don’t want to hear that some things just take time.
So let me remind you.
Some things just take time.
They just take time.
They just take time.
You are getting better.

My kid’s school just emailed asking for holiday silent auction. Sorry, I don’t have any ski passes or hockey tickets. Anyone want some old signed books??

When I was a kid you got a list of vaccines you needed from your school or doctor, you grimaced but got the needles you had to get, you went to school with every other kid in your neighborhood who just did the same thing, and then nobody got polio, diphtheria, or whooping cough.
