Thanks for the thoughtful comment Joerg. Look forward to seeing you in October. I do agree understanding better the emergent role of China is critical.
@NavrozDubash existential fight against nativist/populist forces, now also here in Germany. We need to fight and win it but it would be unrealistic to count on the West in the next years as the force that solves the climate equation. Happy to discuss when I visit NYC/Princeton in late October!

Thanks for picking this line out Joerg. I do indeed feel these are the tough trade-offs. Welcome your thoughts.
„The brutal trade- off, then, lies between pressuring populism-freighted rich world polities for faster reductions, or condemning energy-scarce poor economies to forego development through an energy squeeze, or accepting higher, and potentially devastating, climate impacts.“⬇️

First annual report from @SFC_India - please take a minute to check it out. The organisation was born of the collective work of many people, Fellows, researchers, advisers and far-thinking funders who were willing to take a bet on us. We look forward to further engaging with you.
We are excited to present our Annual Report for 2023-24! Around this time last year, we established SFC with the goal of analysing and promoting India’s progress toward a sustainable, just, and resilient economy and society. Now, a year later, we reflect on our journey and work in this report. Below is a snapshot, and you can view the full report here:

Please.check out a new paper by Shibani Ghosh and myself attempting to unpack the recent Indian Supreme Court judgment articulating a 'right to be free from the adverse effects of climate change'.
NEW: In @TheIndiaForum, @NavrozDubash & Shibani Ghosh write that the Supreme Court's Ranjitsinh judgment must be viewed as an important step, needing further conceptual elaboration, rather than a fully formed template for Indian climate jurisprudence. They highlight gaps in the judgment (e.g. inadequate attention to adaptation, limited framing of the mitigation challenge beyond RE) and suggest that an appropriately crafted climate legislation could backfill the gaps in Ranjitsinh.
