@JohnJtr45 Thankfully, going out for photos, the hiking, the weather challenge, the cold temps and all, has never felt like work! Now the business part of it is another story at times... :)

@WildAdks My Nikon cameras have performed without issue in the subzero cold ever since my first N2000 in the mid 1980's. I use Outdoor Research gear for gloves and mitts and wear layers of poly, Primaloft, and down. I also have a pair of handwarmers I'll stick in my mitts at times

@mccreary_pierce Or are you referring to the frost feathers? Water was only several inches deep where the gravel is.

@mccreary_pierce It varied from inches to perhaps 3 to 5 feet at the deepest where you can see it in the photo

A thin layer of fresh ice covered northern Lake George yesterday morning from Hague to Rogers Rock, as far as I could see. It offered a clear view to the lake bottom, but I didn't consider stepping onto it since it appeared to be an inch thick at most.

Through the looking glass... Reflections, an ice pressure ridge, and the sunlit sandy lake bottom at Lake George a week ago on a beautiful winter morning.
