Very excited to say that we are publishing a whopping 213 flashes in this year's FlashFlood on 24 June. We are also very excited to have received a record number of submissions from debut writers & will publish a debut flash at half past the hour for the 24 hours of the flood.

FlashFlood this year opens on 30 April and runs till 6 May! Stories of up to 300 words. Previously published accepted. A flash will be published on NFFD (24 June) every five or ten minutes. More details soon.

FlashFlood subs are read anonymously & with care. We receive 100s & 100s of subs (thank you), with approx 50 per cent of those previously published. We publish approx 200 throughout NFFD with spots for debut writers every half an hour. Open till 27 April at 23:59 GMT.

This year, everyone is entitled to one free submission to the
@nationalflashfd
anthology. The theme is FAMILY. We ask for donations for second and third submissions, but if this is a struggle financially, please send us up to three anyway. Up to 500 words.
Thank you so much for all the fabulous FlashFlood submissions. As well as the common themes of grief, cognitive decline and murder, we've received a lot of stories on the theme of fishing! We'd love to see more historical, science fiction and funny flashes.

Thanks to everyone who submitted to FlashFlood. The quality of submissions year was really high and we had to reject stories that we would have accepted in the past. We also received numerous subs on death & fading relationships which resulted in many good stories being rejected.
Wow, you guys! FlashFlood has received well over 1000 subs so far this year, and they're still pouring in...that's as much as we received last year in total, and nearly double what we received in 2018! We're going to have to add more slots this year....
