@AndrewMarr9
took
@EdwardJDavey
to task this morning, quite rightly on the definition of the word 'woman'.
This isn't a trans rights issue, its a women's rights issue.
We simply cannot protect women in legislation if we cannot define what a woman is.
So it appears the majority of
@LibDems
do not believe Isla Bryson should be sent to a women's prison, yet not a single one of them is prepared to explain why when I said this in 2018, and was forced out of roles and suspended , why none of them spoke up for me
#ShameOnYou
When society granted TW the immense pprivilege of treating them 'socially' as women, it didn't mean that we consented to reality being rewritten, women's sports being destroyed or violent rapists being put in prison with vulnerable women
#RespectMySex
The
@LibDems
have unusually put in a judgement against themselves and admitted every aspect of my claims against the party.
Costs and damages are still to be resolved.
case is from 2019, and there was no admission made, we spoke outside and have a draft agreement
J - so it's settled
HM - what was important to C, is that there was an admission,
<discussion of process that I'm struggling to follow - both barristers and judge.
My case is not yet finished.
I would like to credit Kelly Jay Keen
@ThePosieParker
for her marketing genius because this case would never have happened if I hadn't had worn her t-shirt to an internal meeting.L
And in the middle of all that, Davey resolutely failed to defend Natalie Bird who was banned from standing as a LibDem candidate for 10 years for wearing an 'adult human female' t-shirt. Says
@AndrewMarr9
"The Libdems used to be a tolerant, open party, keen for free speech".
I've just listened to
@moira_robin
on
@BBCWomansHour
tell
@Emmabarnett
that GC's aren't able to impose their beliefs on 'trans' individuals within the workplace.
Robin didn't mention that this would also apply equally to 'trans' who wouldn't be able to impose their own beliefs
To those trying to tell us that debate was possible
@KirstieMAllsopp
.
Here's the letter sent by the partner of Ruth Huny's personal adviser, Sarah Brown, calling for my expulsion from the
@LibDems
because I challenged the mind numbing mantra
#TransWomenareWomen
.
After watching
@EdwardJDavey
and
@Keir_Starmer
stumble on
@BBCPolitics
when asked basic questions about women, I'm starting to conclude that
@Baroness_Nichol
may be right, the public want assertive PM's, not those that are so scared of offending the tiniest minority.
Today felt like something had shifted in the consciousness around the women's rights and trans rights conflicts.
Thank you
@AndrewMarr9
@BBCPolitics
for ensuring
@EdwardJDavey
answered this question, now it must be asked of all the leaders of the political parties,
The
@LibDems
have admitted to discriminating against me and to failures and breakdowns in the complaints system.
A political party needs to advocate and protect all PC's, not to discriminate against women whilst promoting a trans agenda.
The whole party needs to be trained in
🔶🏳️⚧️ I'm proud to be part of a party that puts trans rights and the front and centre and defends people's rights to be themselves and have freedom. That is what Liberalism is. I'm guessing Liz is still salty about being expelled from the party and using a vulnerable group is 🤮
The
@LibDems
spent this weekend removing all references to 'women ' and 'men' within the party's preamble, and instead replacing it with people and 'they/them'.
This is apparently progress, personally it feels deeply regressive.
“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture repainted, every date has been altered. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”
This is the most viewed conference tweet, recieving over 10x the amount of views that anything else said at conference.
I've been denied a place and voice at conference, apparently I'm still suspended, even though the party by its own rules cannot suspend a member indefinitely
What is wrong with the phrase, “woman adult human female”?
Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey says the phrase "doesn't really encapsulate the debate... a trans woman is a woman, a trans man is a man"
#Marr
We are long overdue a sensible discussion as to the best way to address the legal loopholes created by the Goodwin judgement, and the creation of the GRA.
We know the orginal legislation was built as a means of protecting the tiny group of transsexuals,
Aren't we all tired of lying to each other? Women don't have to include anyone else but
#women
when discussing women's issues.
If we are 'inclusive' of everything and everyone we loose the ability to discuss clearly what we need to.
Language is crucial in legislation and in law.
@pippaheylings
Treatment decisions between adults and their drs remain private but we are dealing with children and unevidenced medication that may cause real harm, particularly to vulnerable children who have real trauma that remains unexplored.
I find it wholly inappropriate for an MP of any
In light of the ongoing controversy about my Tshirt and the numerous conversations it has sparked within the UK, I've updated my crowdfunder.
My case is considered a strong and winnable case by my legal team.
If you want to bring
#Politics
back to its senses please support me.
Since late 2017 when i first raised concerns around Transwomen being in women's refuges and then later had my party approvals removed stopping me from running in the GE for wearing a slogan Tshirt.
I have been asked many, many times by senior
@LibDems
to apologise.
I refuse to
Sorry to burst anyone's bubble but 'gender critical' beliefs are not a minority viewpoint.
What has happened is that there have been a tiny 'minority' of women who were much more attuned to the dangers of self ID than the rest of the public, and who raised 'red flags'
@EmmaBatemanGPW
Welcome to the club I'm on my second suspension on the
@LibDems
for this. It appears our political parties have trapped themselves in ideological bubbles and we wonder why the wider public are disengaged from politics generally.
Here is the
@MagdalenBerns
video on Alex Drummond, where Alex talks about "widening the bandwidth' of what it means to be a woman, and says he "brings out the inner lesbian" in women. Please watch it
But there is an urgent need for review, particularly as male rapists are placed in prison with our most vulnerable of women, and the data around women is being skewed.
There is a need for urgent and focused action.
I have updated my crowdfunder.
As a single mum in order to get justice I'm going to have to put my house on the line and give up my boys security, after the impact of the viciousness and bullying that has occurred since 2018 this is a further wrong.
@jk_rowling
🙏 thank you...this is not a drill!!
I'd love to see accurate figures on how many women have lost jobs and positions due to this issue.
I was unable to run as Parliamentary candidate in the election for speaking up on this issue
Reading conundrum I'm not convinced that Jan Morris yearned to be a woman, this was a man who had lead a privileged and entitled life.
He was openly misogynistic towards his wife and daughter in his lifetime and hated any kind of domestic drudgery.
@LibVoice4Women
@scotlibdems
@agcolehamilton
Why when the country is in the midst of a cost of living crisis, where families cannot afford food , heat or presents and instead our political elite are rushing through legislation allowing sex offenders the right to a GRC.
This isn't what the country wants.
Why are
@stonewalluk
silent on yesterday's prision 'victory'??
Surely they want the world to know that they have been actively pushing a law that allows violent male sex offenders to be housed with the UK's most vulnerable and abused women
@Nancy_M_K
@EmmaBatemanGPW
Welcome to the club!! My suspension has been ongoing since 2019 in
@libdems
, and my appeal has disappeared in a black hole because I will not kowtow to TWAW.
Although the party has admitted every part of my claim in full, it is still not holding itself or the activists that caused this accountable.
The party internal structures which have been completely overtaken by the trans activists are not working as they should.
@jk_rowling
They should do, women have been asking about this in the doorsteps since 2018, but there are women within political parties doing their utmost to ignore the concerns of ordinary women.
This us why I'm bringing my case against the
@LibDems
..
This is a basic and fundamental issue around women's rights to retain rights we've had for centuries.
Transwomen are women is a meaningless statement and pushes an ideological belief onto party members, which most don't believe.
Apologies; if reporting on Bird vs Pack et al on behalf of the Lib Dems was difficult to follow. Rapid technical discussions btwn judge and barristers on how to proceed; defendants admitted breaching Equality Act, damages and costs hearing in August. We hope to report.
The thing is this should never have been dragged out so long by the party, once Maya’s judgement came out the party should have sought to resolve the case and conduct a through internal review as to how exactly my case had happened and how to prevent it happening to others.
I believe the GRA creates a 'legal fiction' that is creating a myriad of unforeseen, real world consequences.
I don't believe we build a world where all of us can thrive if we are falsifying state documents and putting women at risk.
I'm very pleased to see that
@EmmaBatemanGPW
has the same brilliant sols as are representing me in my case against the
@libdems
.
We must ensure that freedom of speech and belief is allowed within on political parties.
I am taking legal action against the Green Party.
The GPEW is unwilling to see the damage done through punishment for wrong think, and we must challenge this bullying of members for telling the truth.
.
Please support and share my crowdfunder
Thank you
Like the recent case of
@EmmaBatemanGPW
within the Greens, I have been suspended within the
@libdems
for refusing to recite 'Transwomen are women' to the party's approved candidates chair
@PrueBray
.
Unfortunately my case predates Emma's by a no of years starting in 2018.
Thanks for this
@STILLTish
. It shows the background and the level of influence that Helen has had within the
@LibDems
and on the scottish government with regard t these issues.
An individual should not be able to change their gender markers on documents.
No individual can change sex and we must stop feeding a delusion that they can.
@tomhfh
100%. It seems odd that given it’s possible to change gender markers on a passport and many other documents that it’s not possible to get your birth certificate (and therefore death certificate) to reflect how you identity.
@BBCWomansHour
Mental health particularly post natal, more support for maternity services for women, violence against women and the culture that causes it. FGM and the culture that causes it. Free school meals so no child goes hungry. Safeguarding. Removal of 'gender ideology'.
This case is clearly in need of review, as it doesn't add up.
If there was an apparent 'suicide pact' then why didn't she sign any letters or make her family aware?
Why would she actively 'choose ' such a brutal end, rather than a loving and gentle one
@DebbieHayton
@Ian99572584
Has she started her periods or just getting unnecessary attention from boys? I think we need to stop sugar coating what s horrible period this is for children and make them fully aware there is no quick fix that will solve it
I've never seen so many trans flags as there are currently outside Oxford university.
It appears our best and brightest have trapped themselves in a tiny ideological bubble.
Let
@Docstockk
speak.
@jonathanliew
The problem is
@jonathanliew
is that parkrun supplies data is athletic companies and that data must be correct.
It would be simple for parkrun to collect the data on the basis of sex with a separate category for those who self identity, and it would stop anomalies such as Lauren
@KatyMontgomerie
This is about neither of those things its simply about trans people overstepping boundaries and not having respect for others opinions and wishes.
Maya has established thankfully that we allowed to have 'GC' beliefs, the next test will be where we are able to express those beliefs and how.
Please support my crowdfunder.
#SexMatters
So why is
#UniversalCredit
trending now, perhaps because 'working class' tories or middle class individuals who never thought they would have to rely on it are now having to do.
Why didn't you listen to the low income individuals who told you years ago it was unsustainable
This group numbered less than 5000, and had undertaken both physical and hormonal changes. The individual could then apply to a panel, show they had been living in 'gender' for two years and then be granted a GRC.
@PeterTatchell
Was it wrong for
@juliehes
to play hayley in corrie? Would the public so readily have accepted the 'trans' narrative if a Transwomen would have played hayley instead?
@soniasodha
@AishaJMir
The bill should have taken off the table the ability for any man to self ID when he has already demonstrated he is a danger to women through sexual offenses or DV, that should have been common sense.
When we finally sat before the judge for my pre trial review on the 22nd the first thing she questioned was whether the fact that the Libdems have made a judgement against itself was correct.
@lolaolufemi_
@womenslib_50
What Selina has to say around sex and class is really important. We do not live in an equal world and we need to discuss uncomfortable things
The barrister from their side explained that it was their hadn't been enough time for the party to withdraw from the case so they had to put in a judgement against themselves for breaching my contract and breaching the Equality Act.
There is no risk assessment that should place any male, no matter how he chooses to identify in prison with women.
If risk assessments are leading to this then there are clear issues that need to be addressed with the risk assessments themselves.
@JosephineVonS
@JamesEsses
@slipkn0t8
Examine the words in your tweet. If the prison service puts someone in a women's prison it is because they have risk assessed it and decided that's where they should go. If they thought they were a man, they would be in men's prison. So your logic doesn't hold.
As follow on from
@KLBfax
historic action, this is now the final death knell for puberty blockers, and rightly so untested medication shouldn't be given to nine yr olds.
@SarahLudford
The amendment is absolutely necessary and vital for accurate data. I'm appalled that their are
@libdems
who wouldn't support it, isn't all party policy supposed to be rational and evidence based?
The implication this has had to women's rights must be made clear.
#women
are half of the population and we're not going to stand by quietly whilst our political leaders demonstrate moral cowardice
#WeDemandBetter
#WomenWontWeesht
What is wrong with the phrase, “woman adult human female”?
Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey says the phrase "doesn't really encapsulate the debate... a trans woman is a woman, a trans man is a man"
#Marr
@GBNEWS
@tryingattimes
Transactivists could have stopped this years ago by respecting women's boundaries and
@stonewalluk
should not have campaigned to erase sex based rights under the Equality act. It was an overreach that can only by balanced by strengthening women's rights.
The biggest problem is now we are seeing the 'laws of unintended consequences' in action, and we need to find a sensible and compassionate way forward to tackle it.
I'm not convinced that now is the time for repeal and I'm not sure the public could be brought along with us,
Robin Moira White showed today in
#PoliticsLive
that a small no of transwomen believe they have an entitlement to be in women's spaces, and will ignore women's distress and discomfort.
This entitlement needs to be challenged with police, employers and through social penalties
@stephenwhittle
You are in a world where you can be anything you want to be, the uk is extremely tolerant but you cannot change sex, no matter how you choose to express yourself.
So
@Keir_Starmer
now says that women are adult human females but
@EdwardJDavey
is still silent on the issue for fear of the party activists, and I've received the most excessive punishments for asking for
#CommonSense
on this issue in 2018.
@HelenCBelcher
The GRA is already creating an environment where women feel they can't challenge men in the ladies and men feel emboldened. This is concerning particularly in light of the numerous attacks on women throughout and after lockdowns.
Unfortunately I wasn't at
@LDConf
due to my continuing suspension, over wearing a Tshirt.
I've had my
@libdem
twitter handle taken from me because I don't speak for the party, however i suspect this recent week with
@MarrShow
,
@BBCWomansHour
and
@LivePoIitics
has made my name
As understanding for 'trans issues' grows, support for it declines.
Reading this I'm pleased to see that most of the country are largely in line with my own liberal views
@LibDemWomen
removed myself and numerous women for raising concerns as to Aimee Challenor joining the party and being touted as the next political 'rising star'
In various ways and suffered silencing and shut downs but rest assured the public know who is male and who is female.
We live in an extremely tolerant country, but asking people to lie and believe untruths will only cause a wide backlash to the whole LGBT community.
I have suffered numerous grave injustices at the hands of the party, one of which being barrred to stand as a candidate for 10 years for wearing a slogan Tshirt, in a party that apparently centres rational debate and freedom of speech.
If
@EdwardJDavey
wants a debate
Interestingly
@EdwardJDavey
didn't use any air time to defend me or my case and tbe reasons why I've felt it necessary to bring it.
Instead senior party members have allowed me to be relentlessly targeted for stating something the majority of tbe population agree with.
It's vital all local and national politicians are asked their views on 'Transwomen are women', this is not the niche issue its being painted as but it a fundamental issue as we are reliant on our politicians to be policy makers and lead, not follow the public debate
#RespectMySex

For the change this country needs to happen its going to be really important for all the smaller parties to unite and fight for PR amongst other changes.
Common purpose and unity must be found.
@SusanMee9
Patients would have the right to speak to 'female ' at birth staff, but women who have gone through severe trauma won't be aware of their rights and they won't be able to effectively advocate for themselves
