. Nope, they were very good at projecting their fears upon the cosmos and then using that Jungian mythological cosmology to justify their own acts, esp. land theft, and to attempt to legitimize their claim to be 'the chosen people.' A lot of rubbish in the Old Testament . . .
@NairbOtto @parrotedwords The Scribes of the Old Testament were very good at imprinting the nature, sentiments and idiosyncrasies of humankind upon the God of their creation. Much of that which was presented as the Will of God in scripture is actually the desires of men, even wicked men. 🧐🤨

. Yahweh mistreats the helpless all the time. His actions are the most stunning examples of mistreatment of the helpless in the Old Testament or, indeed, in any religious tradition that has come down to us. My thinking is that Dawkins is too polite - the OT God is a Huge Dick.
@NairbOtto @parrotedwords That's what the Christians say the greek gods are like. I mean in the old Testament God is constantly complaining about mistreatment of the helpless. He punishes that and breaking worship rules because they are symbolic only if done correctly.

. More rubbish religious positions. The God of the OT is not part of a 'love story' It is a story in which the OT God is an abusive powerholder who kills nearly all of mankind in the flood, orders the israelites to commit genocide, releases plagues on Egyt, etc That ain't love
