At @NYUAD_WRC , we are continuously on the lookout for the most daunting challenges facing the water treatment sector. We have been carefully exploring solutions for the removal of the most concerning contaminants such as endocrines and pharmaceuticals and we have been conducting a thorough surveys for critically identifying the gaps where we need to direct our focus to. 🌟 From Plastic Waste to High-Efficiency Catalysts! 🌟 We’re excited to share that our latest research has been published in the @ChemEngElsevier Journal, where innovation drives sustainability! Here’s what we accomplished: 🔬 Recycled PET bottles transformed into high-performance nanocomposite catalysts. 🔥 Advanced heat treatment to immobilize Ag nanoparticles into recycled PET nanofiber networks. ♻️ Sustained reduction efficiency of >90% over 11 cycles. 📊 Optimization achieved with Response Surface Methodology (RSM) for precise results. 🔍 The Langmuir-Hinshelwood model unveiled critical insights into reduction rates. 💡 Extended reactions produced valuable quinone derivatives like dehydrobenzoquinone, a safer alternative to the parent compound. 🔬Exciting advancements in catalytic membranes! 🌍🧪 Our latest study @NYUAD_WRC , "In-situ growth of uniform palladium nanoparticles in polythiosemicarbazide membranes for enhanced catalytic reduction and dye degradation," published in Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry, introduces a strategy for embedding palladium nanoparticles (PdNPs) in polythiosemicarbazide (PTSC) membranes, creating uniformly dispersed nanoparticles with exceptional catalytic properties. Key Highlights: - Uniform PdNPs with an average size of just 2.3 nm. - Enhanced catalytic efficiency: 80% conversion of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol 7x faster & 70% degradation of methyl orange dye in just 20 minutes! - Achieving 18-fold efficiency improvements with only 1% PdNPs loading.
