Gotta love the crowd cheering for Ramirez who just threw a pitch behind Hoskins. Gotta agree with Ron that it was a little late, but never the less a statement was made. Baseball season is under way and I’m loving it… just need the Mets to play better baseball.

That was ridiculous. Hoskins entire body was past the bag, he cleated McNeil. Rules aside, that looked like it had at least a little bit of intent.

Brutal game for the Mets. Quintana struggled, the bullpen struggled. Hitting wasn’t bad but didn’t do enough to stay in it. Final was 13-5.

Mets win 10-5. Hamel gave up 4 runs and Fujinami gave up 1. He now has an ERA of 12.27 this spring😬. The Mets scored 10 runs on 7H and 7BB. Despite the Mets good ST record (94 win pace), the bats have not looked great. The Mets need to step it up offensively.

Excited about opening day but as everyone knows, the Mets opening day has been delayed to Friday. Over the course of ST the pitchers out performed the hitters despite the lineup being the more complete part of the team. I have faith both will pill their weight. My guess is 84-78.

Mets lose first game of the day 5-1 to the Marlins. Megill and SRF both had bad days on the mound. Zack Short went 2-3, raising his spring OPS to .900. Short will be on the opening day roster.

Mets walk it off against the Marlins, final score 7-6 thanks to HR from Vientos, Bader, and Iglesias. Quintana struggled but got some bad calls along the way. Edwin Diaz got the 3 batters he faced out but without a K. The other game is currently 9-8 Nationals.

Mets fall short despite another amazing pitching performance. Megill gave up a HR to Tim Anderson but was great aside from that AB. His new splitter is a real weapon. The big story of today was Diaz striking out the side on 14 pitches. He is so back🎺🎺

Not sure I like this move. Given the 110% luxury tax, the “rebuild” the team is in this season, Martinez’s age, and the fact that J.D. Davis is available for cheaper and potentially a longer contract due to his age, I don’t think this is the right move for the Mets.

Just a few hours after I said the Mets offense needs to step it up, the Mets pay a player who hit 33HR last year! I wasn’t huge on getting him, but there is no doubt that this is a substantial upgrade at the DH spot, and will provide much needed power behind Alonso.

Manaea had a decent start today giving up 2ER over 5IP, Drew Smith hasn’t given up and ER this spring, and Ottavino looked sharp again. The bats however were not awake today and the Mets managed only 2 hits (Bader and Alonso) against the yankees. Final score was 3-0 Yanks🤦♂️

Mets got swept at home to open the season😕. Offense was hard to come by outside of Alonso and Alvarez, pitching hasn’t been sharp, I still have some faith in the lineup especially with Martinez otw, but the pitching is scary. Hopefully the starters can put it together.

Vientos was optioned to Syracuse and already has a HR there. Disappointing to hear Vientos won’t be on the opening day roster but for defensive reasons it makes sense, and he’ll have his time soon enough.

The Mets got absolutely bamboozled by Peralta today. Marte’s HR was the only hit the Mets could get. Baty looked lost at the plate and K’d twice along with Nimmo, Stewart, and Alvarez. Pitching wasn’t bad but like we’ve said all spring, something needs to spark tis lineup. J.D.?

My personal guess is somewhere around 110.

Sorry for the late recap but Mets lose 4-1. Lucchesi got shelled😕. Quintana turned in 4 scoreless innings and lowers his spring ERA to 2.08. Like the other starters he has looked very promising. The bats were dry today (only 2 hits) and the 1 came from a few consecutive walks.

Mets finish the day 1-1. Megill and Adams both struggled and gabe up 4 runs each. Alonso was 2-3, Narvaez 2-2 with a walk, and Wendle 3-4. Both games saw starting pitching struggles that we havn’t really seen so far this Spring. Mets get the day off tomorrow.

Megill is done after 3 innings. He gave up no hits, 2 walks, no runs, and had 6 strikeouts. Megill has looked excellent so far this spring and in my opinion should be the Mets 5 starter this season.

Carlos Mendoza acknowledged he had "informal" conversations with Brandon Nimmo at the start of camp about potentially moving in the batting order but added: "If everybody is healthy Nimmo will be in the leadoff spot."

So far in spring training, Trayce Thompson is batting .571 with an OPS of 2.142. Obviously this is an extremely small sample size, but I want to hear what you all think about him. Will he make a major league impact this season?

Mets win 5-4 in spring training subway series. A bunch of guys had 1 hit, but the pitching is what stood out today.
Megill - 3IP, 0H, 2BB, 0ER, 6K
Reid-Foley - 1IP, 0H, 0BB, 0ER, 3K
Megill is having a great spring, putting up a 1.13 ERA, and Reid-Foley has an ERA of 0 in 3IP.

Sevy looked great today. Assuming he can stay healthy I think the Mets will be very happy with this signing. Below are his ERA and xERA stats over his career. He’s had some bad years but these are good numbers along with a career K/9 of almost 10. Get excited for Sevy!!

Mark Vientos just homered in his first at-bat since the J.D. Martinez signing. It was his team-leading fifth of spring training.
Earlier this month, Vientos said he has "a chip on my shoulder ... I just feel like that's the narrative for me since I've been playing this game."

Mets win 9-3! Ji Man Choi went was 3-3, Brett Baty 2-4, and Simon Juan 2-2. Manaea pitched 4 scoreless innings with 2H, 5K, and 3BB. The Mets have had the best ERA in spring training and move 8-5 so far!

Mets win 5-3. Nimmo had 2 hits, but let’s talk about Christian Scott. In 4IP he had 7K with only 2H(1HR) and 1ER. Not only did he have 0BB, he didn’t have any 3 ball counts. Control was great, velo was there, stuff was great, definitely someone to look forward too as a 23 y/o!

Mets lose 5-2 in 6 innings. Houser got beat up, and aside from a Marte hit there really wasn’t much going on.

Mets fall short 3-2. Solo HRs from Nido and Vientos are the only scoring the Mets do. Houser struck out 5 over 3.1IP and looked good. Pretty slow game but Edwin Diaz is set to make his first start this spring tomorrow!

Joe Suozzi walks it off for the Mets. Sevy turns in yet another great start. Nunez struggled but the rest of the pen was lights out as the Mets combine for 15K. Wendle went 2-2 bringing his spring AVG to .375, and Vientos hit another HR.

Loving this lineup, not sure I agree with moving Nimmo out of the 1 but that seems to be the Mets plan. Vientos and Baty are of course the big question marks in this lineup but they deserve to be in the lineup to start the year.

Mets loose 4-1. Manaea did not look good in his first appearance of the year. Baty, who’s performance I believe will be a decider in the Mets season hit a long ball. Baty being able to hold down 3rd base and be an above average bat would be extremely beneficial for this team.

I say yes! He’s on an arbitration contract for 7mil, and could be a great insurance player for Baty and Vientos at 3B/DH! Attached are his WRC+ by season, those area great numbers especially for the price tag. Davis also hit 22HR in only 453PA in 2019. BRING HIM HOME!
