Moderate to heavy snowfall continues to fall over Oneida County. Some webcams have shown rapid accumulation this evening. Snowfall totals have been updated with increases over Oneida County. The advisory for N. Oneida was upgraded to a warning and S. Oneida now has an advisory.

A lake effect snow band will rapidly reduce visibility to less than a quarter of a mile. This lake effect snow band is producing very heavy snow at the rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour near Camden, and it could extend toward Rome soon. Use caution if traveling this evening #nywx

Lake effect snow will ramp up later this afternoon, mainly impacting northern areas of Central NY. Lake Effect Snow Warnings are in effect starting 4 PM this afternoon through early Tuesday morning. #NYwx

Lake effect snow has ramped up over the past hour or so. In this MRMS loop, you can see the upstream connection we have to the N Great Lakes, which is adding moisture to the air as it moves over Lake Ontario, increasing the lake effect snow over N Oneida county.

A snow squall warning is in effect until 4:30 AM EST for I-90 near Oneida, NY and I-90, I-81, I-690, I-481 near Syracuse, NY and I-90 near Utica, NY and US-20 near Auburn, NY.
