After a service at the cemetery this morning, invited guests are attending a service at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Newark. If you are in the town centre, you will see many Polish dignitaries, residents and press from Poland and the UK capturing this momentous and important day.

General Sikorski was buried in Newark Cemetery until July 1993, when, in line with his wishes, his body was returned to a free Poland.
We are remembering his life today and honouring his memory with a flypast of a Hurricane at 3:30pm over the cemetery as we unveil his statue.

When new staff join the council they are encouraged to become ‘dementia friends’ and this involves undertaking awareness training with Bev our dementia champion. Twelve new dementia friends received their training today.
