Trump has made major, clear signals of his desire for a new nuclear deal with Iran, building on prior statements supportive of diplomacy. These seem to set the stage for new negotiations, despite his apparently reluctant signature of a memorandum reinstituting “maximum pressure” sanctions against Iran. For those serious about resolving tensions with Iran through diplomacy, putting American interests first and preventing further war in the Middle East, Trump's remarks on Iran this week were very positive. As Trump moves to reinstate the so-called travel ban, NIAC Action is proud to endorse the No Ban Act and applauds @repchu and @ChrisCoons for their efforts to protect our communities. “The scars of the first ban haven’t healed, and some families have faced over four years of separation. We cannot let Trump reimpose this cruelty.” - @Jabdi Read the press release and learn more about the bill here:

Trump just doubled down again in his joint press conference with Netanyahu, saying his sole requirement for a deal is Iran not having a nuclear weapon and saying this could lead Iran to an unbelievable future. Trump wants a deal and the window for negotiations seems wide open.
Trump signaling again that he will negotiate with Iran is a big deal. The stars could be aligning for serious negotiations in a way that has not happened for years. While his signing of a "maximum pressure" order risks upsetting that opening, his signal that he is "torn" on it and hopes it will not be implemented much is an important signal that his interest is not in pressure for pressure's sake, but in leveraging existing sanctions for a deal. Trump focused again on Iran's nuclear program, underscoring that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, setting a realistic and achievable goal for talks. Iran’s reaction is critical — just as pressure is likely to beget more pressure, it’s important that positive signals are reciprocated on each side. An important balance must be struck. We urge the parties to recognize this opportune moment to break through diplomatic impasse.

Netanyahu needs the U.S. locked in conflict with Iran—it’s how he justifies endless military aggression and keeps American troops entangled in the Middle East. His White House visit is a push for more war, not peace. The question is: will Trump take the bait? #NoWarWithIran
