The first specimen was discovered in the 1990s—without a head. The skull was discovered several years later. The full skeleton was helicoptered out to be prepared. Meanwhile, more fossils were being found all the time.

This is the underside of

's new tyrannosaur skull. Some will notice this side has more teeth and is generally better preserved, which is usually the case. When the creature dies and falls, the exposed parts will experience erosion and decay far faster.

This is not a crocodile! Phytosaurs resemble crocodiles, but they are not closely related. These extinct reptiles lived during the Late Triassic (237-201.3 million years ago) and predate modern crocodilians by over 100 million years!
