@malinga_r @NHSuk This is simply nuts right? Our place uses this provider but the estates or parking people can ask them to cancel the fines. Either they need to extend to 0900 or you leave at 0815. Get support from Ed sup or HOD.

Struggling to sleep. Daughter had an operation today for #IBD and am amazed as ever at her resilience. It’s hard to see your kid in pain (even tho she’s 20). It’s also hard not to be there. Too many things going through my mind. Just wanting her to be better….

When are we as endoscopists going to let the world know that this is actually a real thing??.#puddingstomach

@suzi1dore Big big kudos. My daughter (20) had a subtotal colectomy over Christmas and just spent a few days away. Because of people like you she feels comfortable wearing her bikini with her ileostomy bag visible. This is truly one of the best things about social media. Thank you.

Did our first EUS GJ today. Technically gone very well. Saw the patient this afternoon and they were so grateful. Hope that there will be clinical success too. #advancedendoscopy.

@DrEilidhMaria @Iromg It’s actually 3 Eilidh. The medical degree is 2 degrees and equivalent to a masters degree anyway. This is why we don’t need to do a masters to be eligible for an MD or PhD in the U.K. They don’t know the sacrifice that we’ve already made and what we’re worth until we’re gone….

@DrEilidhMaria @Iromg Many don’t and it’s something to be proud of. We worked damn hard to achieve what we have become and despite the bile (sorry PB had to get that word in) spewed by some, the vast majority of the country still appreciate us for what we do.

Proud of our hospital. Complex procedure done in IR with advanced endoscopy component. Best part, both consultant IR and PB endoscopist are women. Successful procedure done by Dr Bidour AwadElKarim and Dr Georgia Priona. @BritSocGastro

Dr Daisy Sutcliffe presenting our duodenal EMR data. She’s only an F1 but has gone above and beyond to get this data together and has been rewarded by having an oral presentation at #BSGlive24

@jtrebach Friendliest is the liver as basically the most forgiving organ there is. Pancreas defo the meanest. Just have to look at it in the wrong way and it gets all angry and vindictive taking the lungs, kidneys and pretty much and other organ it can down with it….

This guy presents the actual issues and I share very much the same background. When I graduated (1998) I had <£10K debt and was paid proportionally more. Able to get a house at the end of PRHO yr and all debt gone by about 2 yrs. The government can change all of this easily.
1. Tomorrow i will be supporting the NHS #ConsultantsStrike.About Me:.➡️ I am a cardiology consultant / professor @UHNM_NHS .➡️ i was from a working class background, i went to a state comprehensive. My dad left school at 16, mum at 12. I am the first / only member of my family.

@Iromg @DrEilidhMaria You need to fact check yourself and research why the NHS is in this state - if the government funded it properly then there wouldn’t be the gaps. The main groups not doing routine work on a weekend are not the doctors.

@DrEilidhMaria N=9 PAs and no mention of the number of med students. Does correct for age or life experience and largely utterly meaningless….

@drkeithsiau There is no evidence that colonoscopy makes any difference in patients with acute lower GI bleeding. Sort them out then do a good procedure as an outpatient. Inpatient prep is simply pants….

@ShaunLintern Also missing the point that out of hours and weekends etc are COMPULSORY effectively. This narrative of “they will earn more for…” is a false economy.

Proud of this one: Dr Evelyn Lim. Has brought together the U.K. data on ampullectomy and presented an oral presentation at #ESGEDays2024 and will be at #BSG also. Lots of great discussion had. Love supervising and seeing such growth in our trainees.

@RoshanaMN The problem is that he is not alone. Personally I think it shows he’s the ‘snowflake’ for being complicit with this for years. People like this need calling out and marginalising until this kind of behaviour is not ‘normal’ and women can just get on with their work in peace.

@hm_quigley I worked with a great SHO colleague many years ago now (☹️) who used to reply to things like this with “I haven’t done the course” and watch panic and confusion ensue….

@9Nylon This is appalling. Also don’t really understand why they felt the need. First author is very important but so is senior (last) author as denotes responsibility for the paper. This consultant could have taken last author and kept their dignity….

@UKGastroDr @PatrickMackle4 @RCPhysicians @parthaskar @mmamas1973 @DrLKVaughan @DrAsifQasim Isn’t there a risk though that paperwork may then have ‘member of the RCP’ on it and the affiliate bit gets a bit lost?.

Solidarity today for the doctors that are striking for the next 72 hrs. If we want high quality healthcare which is free at the point of source then the government needs to sit up and listen. These are highly trained professionals who deserve better. #JuniorDoctorsStrike.

@LouiseAllard18 And have completely missed the point. Your relative wage, pension, ability to get a house and save is INCOMPARABLE with the current set of doctors. Please take a breath, look up from your comfortable life and see what is happening in the real world. Good grief….

@drkeithsiau @ASGEendoscopy This needs to start with patient selection as the best way to prevent post ERCP pancreatitis is not to do the procedure on someone in the first place eg young woman with GB in situ with stones in duct >10mm - straight to surgery please….

@RoshanaMN It’s gonna be work to rule then. I think they have NO idea how much work gets done because we just get on with it. That was fine when our pay/pensions etc recognised this. Now… not so much. They are ultimately responsible for the whole health service but have no clue.
