Taro (Colocasia esculenta) foliage that came into the clinic tested positive for a potyvirus. We suspect Dasheen mosaic virus (DsMV) is the potyvirus at play. The chlorotic feathering along the veins is a characteristic symptom of this viral disease. #potyvirus#araceae

Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) has been prevalent on tomato this season. This viral disease is transmitted by thrips. Infected plants can not be cured and should be removed immediately. #tospovirus#TSWV#viraldisease

Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) symptoms on a tomato leaf. TMV is spread through contact by hands, tools, and/or seeds. It is advised to remove the infected plants from your garden (far away from your healthy plants). #tobamovirus

Herbicide drift injury on field-grown tomato plants. Viral diseases can be mistaken for the symptoms of leaf distortion and cupping caused by herbicide injury. These specific symptoms resemble damage from a synthetic auxin herbicide class. There is no cure for this disorder.

Cercospora leaf spot on beet (Beta vulgaris) caused by the fungal pathogen Cercospora beticola. Symptoms include tan to gray circular lesions often with reddish purple margins. Necrotic spots enlarge and coalesce under favorable conditions resulting in defoliation. #ascomycete

Black rot on #kale caused by the pathogenic bacterium #Xanthomonas. V-shaped lesion on right side of leaf is a characteristic symptom of this disease, as well as bacterial streaming. To learn more about black rot on brassicas please visit #plantdisease
