Bald eagles were once endangered but thanks to conservation and protection acts, they recovered and made a comeback from almost becoming extinct. With the help of the Endangered Species Act, habitat protection, and banning the pesticide, DDT, we now have more bald eagles in NC!

Wasps or another insect possibly laid eggs in these oak leaves and the plant formed a gall! Galls are growths of plant tissue caused by insects. Galls protect the young insects and don't usually harm the tree's health they form on leaves, twigs or branches of all shapes and sizes

Sharpnose puffers grow to be about 12 cm long. To defend themselves, they inflate their body with either air or water to appear much bigger. Too big for some predators to swallow! #sharpnosepufferfish #prettyandcool #defense #donteatmeplease
