In case you missed it, The Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act (CVFSA) is back! Last week, Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) introduced H.R. 909, or "CVFSA 2.0," as we are calling it, with Representatives Nathaniel Moran (R-TX), Jim Costa (D-CA), Debbie Dingell (D-MI), Stephanie Bice (R-OK), and Derek Schmidt (R-KS). This bill makes CAC funding and services in communities across America more stable, and is the top priority for CACs facing recent funding declines. We need your help to pass this bill and avoid reducing or closing key services to help children and families recover from abuse! Last Congress, the CVFSA garnered the support of more than 200 House co-sponsors and 6 Senate cosponsors – proof of its overwhelming bipartisan support. But Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) across the nation were still forced to consider making severe cuts to their services, the same services that countless child crime victims rely on. There are already 31 House co-sponsors signed on to get the CVFSA over the finish line. Share this post, and reach out to your representative in Congress today and tell them to co-sponsor and pass the CVFSA to protect CACs and provide access for victims to get the support they need. Find your representative: See if your rep is a 2025-co-sponsor:

✨These are the real words of a kid served by a Child Advocacy Center (CAC). Through our Youth Feedback Survey, we're hearing about their experiences. CACs listen to children, help them process what's happened to them, and build a foundation for life after abuse so they can go back to being kids. 👉Learn more about what we do in our Healing, Justice, & Trust report:

In this episode of our One in Ten podcast, we speak with Dr. Meg Sullivan, former Acting Assistant Secretary for the Administration of Children and Families, about the efforts and policies of the Biden administration in child welfare. While every administration differs in its priorities and approaches, all are challenged with some key questions. How do we better prevent child abuse and neglect in the first place? How do we avoid foster care placements and strengthen families wherever we can? How do we address the most critical challenges faced by America’s families? Watch the full episode now: Listen now and subscribe to One in Ten: Also, be sure to check out our July 2021 episode, "Are We Solving The Wrong Problem in Child Welfare?", where you heard the first Trump administration's answers to those questions:

"The VOCA funds under threat are the lifeline to reach these children with the crucial services that help them get back to being kids. This bill keeps agency doors open to crime victims who deserve our assistance." - NCA CEO Teresa Huizar We thank Rep. @RepAnnWagner (R-MO) for her continued fight for Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) and all child crime victims across the country by reintroducing the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act (CVFSA) this week (now H.R. 909). We also want to thank bill co-sponsors Reps. @RepNateMoran (R-TX), @RepDebDingell (D-MI), @RepBice (R-OK), @RepJimCosta (D-CA), and @RepDerekSchmidt (R-KS). Last Congress, the CVFSA garnered the support of over 200 House co-sponsors and 6 Senate cosponsors – proof of its overwhelming bipartisan support. But Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) across the nation were still forced to consider making severe cuts to their services, the same services that countless child crime victims rely on. The 119th Congress can finish what they started and get the CVFSA over the finish line to help be a first line of defense for child crime victims and CACs. Tell Congress to co-sponsor and pass the CVFSA to protect CACs and provide access for victims to get the support they need. Last summer, NCA announced the establishment of seven memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with Military Criminal Investigative Organizations (MCIOs) and Department of Defense Family Advocacy Programs (FAPs) to formalize partnerships at the national level and support CAC-military partnerships nationwide. Now, less than a year later, 513 CACs have signed on to MOUs! Hundreds of thousands of military connected children now have access to CAC services and can get the excellent care they need.
