This is what happens when tariffs are misused: other countries hit back, making imports more expensive—basically a tax on you. At the same time, American goods become pricier overseas, hurting our exports. In the end, it’s a double whammy that drives up costs for everyone.

I’m absolutely heartbroken by this tragedy in DC. My heart goes out to all those grieving this horrible loss. I hope we honor their memories by learning what happened & ensuring it never happens again. To the rest of us…a reminder to hug our loved ones a little closer tonight.

ICYMI: Any ideas for expanding equitable financial systems and economic freedom are worth exploring. The issue is too great and too urgent to be small-minded. Interesting new data from @coinbase and @Ipsos on why more countries are turning to crypto:

Here’s why I’m pro-crypto: We are living through an exponential technology change curve that is clearly going to transform the way people interact, money flows, and economies run. New Tech = New Solutions for solving the world’s most pressing issues.

Congress was designed by men who didn't have to juggle parenting & work. With more young parents serving, it’s time to modernize. Remote voting is pro-family, pro-democracy, and ensures every voice is heard. Read my @Newsweek piece w/Jaime Herrera-Beutler:

Jimmy Carter’s legacy of compassion, humility, and service will endure forever. As a president & humanitarian, he exemplified what it means to lead with heart. His work for human rights, including aiding refugees like my family, changed countless lives. Thank you, Mr. President.

Over the Veterans Day weekend, I realized how lucky I am to have been rescued by the U.S. Navy when we fled communism, to work alongside service members in the Pentagon & to fight for our veterans in Congress. Thank you to all who serve, who have served, and their families.

One problem here is using the term “educated.” When Democrats assume voters don’t support them simply because they’re ‘uneducated’ or uninformed, they alienate more people. To win, the Party has to decide if it’s more focused on being ‘right’ or winning over the American people.

One problem with the DNC is that when the Ds have the WH, the DNC is just an extension of the WH. The DNC must be a 365/50-state Base-Building organization, somewhat insensitive to the latest race, but highly sensitive to educating Americans about Democratic Values.

Democrats-stop dismissing voters' concerns over crime as ignorant/racist. In politics, the question is not whether Americans *are* safe; it's whether they *feel* safe. Pointing to a chart does not make them feel safe. Voters will never trust you to fix problems you deny exist.

2022: Progressives oust Dem moderate in primary (Schrader); Progressive loses seat to Republican in D+2 district. 2024: Democrats nominate a moderate; Moderate defeats Republican incumbent despite big red wave. A good example of when Democrats align with voters, we win.

On @MTPNOW, my advice to Dems: look to our own for what works. Instead of attacking moderates who win in red areas, listen to them (@golden4congress & @MGPforCongress of @BlueDogsWin; @ElissaSlotkin of @VoteNewDems). By connecting w/blue collar voters, these Dems won hard races.

Democrats, take a break; process this loss. Wait for the full data and then listen, learn, and react. But here's what won’t help: DO NOT BLAME THE VOTERS. It is not voters' responsibility to come to us; it is our responsibility to go to them.
