Emerging high-level evidence underscores the potential benefits of prospective surveillance and early intervention in preventing chronic breast cancer-related arm lymphedema (BCRAL). While these programs can be effective, they may also be labor- and resource-intensive. I am pleased to contribute to the excellent paper titled “Prospective Surveillance and Early Intervention to Prevent Chronic Breast Cancer-Related Arm Lymphedema—What Are the Barriers?” There is still more work needed to prevent and treat BCRABL.

This excellent systematic review and meta analysis showed that the use of vaginal estrogen in patients with a history of breast cancer was not associated with an increased risk of breast cancer recurrence , no increase in the risk of breast cancer mortality, no increase in overall mortality with use of vaginal estrogen in breast cancer survivors. There should be no hesitation to prescribe topical estrogen for those who have severe symptoms who tried non hormonal approaches with no much improvement.

Despite the progress made in treatments to improve the lives of breast cancer survivors, a persistent gap exists in education focused on breast cancer survivorship for survivors and those close to them. This leaves survivors without the necessary tools to navigate this intricate phase effectively. Online webinars can emerge as dynamic vehicles to bridge the survivorship education gap, providing real-time engagement and online accessibility. Thrilled to see our work published “ To Close the Gap of Surviorshop Education: A Series of Breast Cancer Webinars in Collaboration with Wellspring” open access

Delighted to see our work published in at the Annual Palliative Medicine Journal. There is a need for a holistic and personalized approach to Breast Cancer Survivorship Care(BCSC). The importance of implementing a multi-disciplinary and coordinated approach to survivorship care has been emphasized. This includes further involvement of PCPs, through increased training for PCPs in survivorship care.

“ Tell me I’m okey” Many patients endorsed strong anxiety regarding potential recurrence that affected QoL, and identified dedicated survivorship follow-up as an ameliorating factor. Further research should be conducted into the unique needs of under-50 survivors, as well as the role of recurrence anxiety in impacting QoL. While it is understood that younger BC survivors face unique challenges, our findings indicate that these obstacles persist into older age groups. In addition to physical side effects, such concerns as body image issues, social strain, and emotional functioning can drive QoL scores for these patients.
