the community manager on the HD2 Discord said that the it's unpopular amongst the devteam, was forced onto them by Sony and was poorly communicated too
they are also actively encouraging unhappy players to refund

I disagree on the part about Nintendo. Nintendo has openly pretty much said "fuck you, ill do what I want" during investor calls
if Nintendo bent the knee to shareholders, I can guarantee you they would've had layoffs by now, or they'd be making live services.
