EDUCATION IS THE KEY OF LIFE We cannot underestimate the significance of education, but we must examine what we are taught. Our ancestors used oral education to raise better adults from children, carefully crafting information so that the "syllabus" would contribute to a more harmonious society. We are led to believe that our ancestors' methods of teaching were outdated and lacked value. However, when one listens to the teachings shared during the following: - Around the fire teachings - Teachings during initiations - Teaching during rites of passages One begins to understand that all African teachings aim to strengthen identity and enhance pride in being African. Western education has its merits, but it seems most beneficial for those who will become loyal employees. When we examine what is taught at various levels, we must ask ourselves whether the focus is truly on helping individuals become better and more prosperous, or if it primarily aims to ensure that they fit well into an employment environment. Our society is suffering because the education system does not focus on areas that promote independence and enhance participation in creating economic opportunities. Why don't they teach about these important aspects: - Family values - Finances - Mental health - Social cohesion As the absence of critical thinking destroys our society, there is little political will to nurture independent thinkers; instead, the focus is on creating more individuals who depend on and are controlled by the system. Western education does not align with the goals and needs of the African agenda.

BLACK-ON-BLACK HATE When oppressors were planning long-term control over blacks, they developed a strategy that would exist for generations to come: DIVIDE AND RULE. It continues today to be seen that Africans still ridiculing each other using Western ways, from using education as a measure of intelligence to living in urban areas viewed as โ€œmadeโ€ it in life. The ongoing conflict within the black community has continued to grow unchecked. Today, the land of our ancestors remains neglected due to a lack of economic activity, and there is a reluctance to cultivate the land. Rural areas are often perceived as unsuitable places for living, leading many to overlook their importance in our lives as Africans. We are becoming more western every day, we celebrate western holidays, we practice western culture, and we are an exact example of a mentally enslaved generation, we hate those who are proud of their blackness and honour the ways of their ancestors. It is a shame what we have become, and the dishonour we have brought to our doorstep. We have sold our generational wealth for a generational curse.

URBANISATION DESTROYED UBUNTU When colonisers decided to remove the head of the family from his home, forcing him to seek employment in urban areas, it laid the groundwork for the destruction of African families. Today, the concepts of Isintu and Ubuntu are nearly extinct due to mixed tribes settling in the same areas. Instead of supporting one another, people are more focused on trying to outdo each other. The moral decay we see in our society can be traced back to the systematic destruction of our values and beliefs. We are champions of Western ways, yet we struggle to explain simple African traditions. This is disgraceful. Arise, daughters and sons of Africa! Let us restore indigenous knowledge to reclaim our dignity as Africans.

African Human Settlement By examining how our ancestors established their settlements, we can appreciate their wisdom and innate intelligence. The design of these homesteads was focused on enhancing: . Security . Ubuntu . Family unit importance . Protection of vulnerable groups People settled according to their identities; for example, the DLAMINIs established a homestead together. They shared similar traditions, clear rules of engagement, and respected hierarchy. Each group socialized separately to prevent early exposure and negative influence. There is much to say about how our people settled, ensuring that social cohesion was central to everything. Look what colonisers did to our people and our ways of living. They introduced hybrid settlements, mixing people from different backgrounds in one area. This affected commitment to culture and eroded the principles of UBUNTU. They replaced UMNTU NGUMNTU NGABANTU with individualism, which gave rise to jealousy and greed. We must be cautious of these so-called โ€œcivilisedโ€ ways of living, and ensure they are not destroying the essence of our identity.
