Before the break, 5th was assigned a final project using all of the skills we have learned so far. They created candy cane forms using value & color, then made a patterned background while keeping emphasis on their candy cane. They did not disappoint!#risdartmatters #risdbetheone

I’ve always used “Lunch Bunch” as an incentive for 5th grade, but recently I added these passes to my rewards for all grades… I think the little ones love eating in my classroom even more… & then bragging to their older siblings!🤣❤️ #risdbetheone #risdgreatness #risdartmatters

My favorite new addition- sketchbooks!🎨 K-5 all made one this year that we use to take notes, draw examples, practice new skills, & to PLAN! Their success rate has been so much higher with this process & gives me time to check for understanding🤩 #risdartmatters #risdweareone

It’s been a while! But today I have to share how wonderful my Ss were. From former Ss walking to my campus before heading to jr high- to little ones bringing me flowers & gifts- to this 5th grade class calling me in to sing me Las Mañanitas❤️ TY all for making me feel so loved!

Khalil is one of my best art mentors that has really taken the time to build a relationship w his mentee, set goals,& incentives for him. This week Eric met his goal so he &Khalil got to have lunch with me! A reward for all of us, I love seeing him grow w the help of his mentor❤️

Sometimes(most of the time🤪) 45mins isnt enough! This ArtCrew S wanted to paint landscapes but since she is new to painting, we decided to spend lunch painting(&eating) together. Uninterrupted1-on-1 instruction was so beneficial! She’ll be painting on her own in no time❤️

5th’s Holiday Feast projects! Still need some shadows & details but I was too excited! Ss were tasked w/ using E&Ps we have covered so far: color,texture,value, lines,shapes, patterns, &form. I ❤️ seeing them represent their fav dishes & cultures in this project! #risdartmatters

Newest addition & incentive in Skyview Art! 5th &6th applied to be mentors &the selected are carefully paired w a K-4 protege. This morning they started their 1st project together &I loved listening to this pair problem solve &talk about school and football😍🎨 #risdartmatters

Lots of memories being made this week, but this day was my favorite💜 Loved getting to take my Art Crew on a trip to celebrate their hard work, look at some inspirations for their work at the aquarium & most of all to just have fun and spend time together! #risdartmatters
