When you think you’ve read everything someone published and then you find an out of print book in a charity shop. Happy reading day!

My Primary One classes absolutely loved hearing about the adventures of Fang and Bang in this fun story by @jjmurrayauthor They especially enjoyed spotting the naughty Midnight Mouse in the wonderful illustrations by Katie Tayler. We’re looking forward to the next instalment!

A common site in our library this term after @Eviewriter Yvonne Banham delivered a brilliant writing workshop to our Form 8 pupils. This is the second deliciously creepy book about Delores Mackenzie set right here In Edinburgh.

Adults and children were equally caught up in story teller Lizzie McDougall’s wonderful Highland stories, all illustrated by her stunning quilts. People kept asking for just one more! A lovely event at Stockbridge Library @TalesOfOneCity

The Oak Tree by #JuliaDonaldson illustrated by #VictoriaSandøy is the perfect book to be reading to the nursery children as they talk about autumn. They’re loving the story and there is so much to spot in the beautiful illustrations. #ScholasticUK #AlisonGreenBooks

Treat to be in the audience for Walking in the shadow of men: bringing women to the centre of historical fiction with Lesley McDowell, Sara Sheridan and Kim Sherwood. Great to see Edinburgh Women’s Fiction Festival back again. @sarasheridan @kimtsherwood

I’ve started the school year by reading this gorgeous book by @crowehoho to the Pre Prep children. They love spotting all the ways the book is changed as it passes through the hands and homes of readers. They really like the idea that they will be part of the story of books.

First visit to @EdinBookshop in its new home. So impressed by what they have done with the space. The new shop is light and spacious and there is a fantastic new children’s section. I especially love the dragon with his book hoard.

Always good to visit a new bookshop. La Belle Adventure is a great addition to Leith Walk. Lovely shop full of French language, English translation and European comics. #LaBelleAdventure

I wrote about Trinity College Church as part of my dissertation on the links between the Scottish and Burgundian Renaissance Courts. Fascinating history.
