Back when I worked at Tesla, I had two meetings total with Elon. Both part of sharing best practices from the field and working out how to deliver more cars.
Each Manager, had to present 3 practices of what we were doing in our region to deliver more cars. I was second in line.
As a Tesla Hiring Manager, I interviewed and hired 100’s of applicants over a 10 year timespan. Here are some things that top-performing candidates and employees did. Follow along if this stuff interest you:

Here's another “when I worked at Tesla” anecdote for Friday afternoon. :)
Back when the first Model S were delivered, we were making upwards of 20 improvements to it per week. The pace of improvement was staggering. The first cars were far from perfect, but they got a lot better
Some are asking why I left
@Tesla
. I left on a completely positive note. After 10 years, the creative work that we were doing in the beginning was done and as the region was quite small, therefore my role became limited. I was unable to move at the time due to family but had been
I’m an Ex-Tesla employee. Ross doesn’t speak for me. I joined Tesla, because I wanted to work hard for a mission alongside bright people. I joined because it’s different to the 9-5 slog. That comes with risks. Tesla is not a cushty place to work. Everyone knows that.
And btw an
Sad to see tesla gutted and hollowed out. So many dedicated hard working tesla employees have lost their jobs. All avoidable victims of Elons Twitter gambit. Sad days for tesla. $tsla
Another anecdote from my time working at

One day a Service Technician thought he was e-mailing the other Techs in his local Service Center. He of course hit “All” and accidentally sent his e-mail to the whole company.
Problem was, he was asking where the Service Centre

Some of the best Managers I’ve ever had were at Tesla. Here are some of the things that made them great:
1. A “flat hierarchy” was normal for them. I never had the feeling I couldn’t speak up if I thought we could do something better and “Outshining the Master” was never an

I've worked for both Tesla and one other pure EV manufacturer. I just wanna say the competition is not coming.
The reason I say this has little to do with the product, but rather the culture and way of working. Nothing compares to Tesla, from what I've seen in my career.

My first visit to Fremont was in 2014. It was part of a Managers Meeting and we were a group of 10. All of us had hit our targets in the previous quarter and had either topped our region or country, hence the invite. This was the other one of two meetings with Elon present, that
Back when I worked at Tesla, I visited, what was then still Tesla’s HQ in Palo Alto. We’d been promised a tour of HQ, by our colleagues in Inside Sales, as part of a 3 day schedule, one of which was a meeting with Elon in Fremont. I’ve pinned the post about the meeting with Elon

Back when I worked at Tesla, I had a conversation with my Country Director, who had recently been over to Fremont, for a week of meetings, Sales & Marketing related. All Country Directors had to present their markets.
Amongst other things I talked to my Country Director about,
$TSLA will go up when it starts printing money. Not when Elon’s new comp package gets approved, not when a robot takes a shit on the factory floor, not when some OEM licences FSD, not when Cybertruck ramps. When its already printing money is when everyone will get FOMO and start
Here's the deal: this price cut has been in the planning for OVER A DECADE. This is when Tesla takes market share. This is when we make it hurt. I'm certain the auto landscape at the end of 2023 will look much different and am as optimistic as ever for the future of Tesla.
Apparently someone at Tesla has been dismissed for taking pics of the Cybertruck production line. I assume there is a lot happening in Giga Texas. It's getting close. September is gonna be interesting. $TSLA
Really appreciate the new Follows everyone. Will be posting new experiences from my days at Tesla regularly, within the bounds of my NDA of course. All positive stuff.
Way back in 2012, I applied for role in Sales Ops for Tesla in EMEA. After a few rounds of invterviews, my final one was with Jerome Guillen, who was VP Worldwide Sales back then. Our only focus was the Model S, AWD was not yet on the markets, our top model was the P85+..🧵 $TSLA
Tesla Full Self-Driving is now completing drives with the equivalent competency of a 17 year old new driver. A year ago, I would have put it at around 12 years old. Can‘t wait to see what the next year brings. 💪🏻🚀
Optimus = the body
Grok = the brain / personality
FSD = the nervous and motor system
All connected by Starlink.
We’re being fed the story piece meal, folks.
Very soon, Tesla will be producing Robots, that are more capable than humans in every way.
Work will be optional. And

The FSD V12.3 vibe is similar to the first Falcon 9 landing. So much buzz on here and everyone talking about it....and then it becomes routine.
In a way, it will be sad, when true autonomy becomes routine, I'm enjoying being on the bleeding edge of progress and all of the

But Tesla is executing as well as ever. If we head into a recession, Tesla could slash prices, create a whole world of pain for legacy manufacturers and basically just gobble market share while watching legacy go bankrupt, one by one.

FSD progress is so fast!
@WholeMarsBlog
Yeah, seeing it everywhere.
Btw, 12.4 goes to internal release this weekend and limited external beta next week. Roughly 5X to 10X improvement in miles per intervention vs 12.3.
12.5 will be out in late June. Will also see a major improvement in mpi and is single stack – no
If you're worried about $TSLA layoffs, Tesla do this periodically. It is normal. Certain positions will no longer be needed. There will also be a low performers in the organisation. It's necessary to keep Tesla healthy and thriving.
People get hung up on who will take on liability when Tesla's FSD is no longer beta.
The thing is, Tesla can probably already extrapolate, when it will be OK to take on liability. They have the data - miles driven, accidents per mile and can calculate probability of accidents,

about Elon‘s „Big Hammer“ and tendency to remove bottle-necks.

I used to estimate the “driving age” of FSD.
About 6 months ago, I guess it was about as capable as 15 year old learner driver. Now I’m thinking a 21 year old who has had their licence for a few years.
Next will be a 27 year old solid driver with experience. Then we go

12.4 has almost completely retrained models. The final touches are for comfort, as it sometimes accelerates or brakes too fast for most people’s taste.

What some might not realise, is the $TSLA price drop, not only dropped the residual values of used Tesla vehicles, but also that of their competitors. This only adds to their pain.
The people that are running for the hills when $TSLA lays off 10% of it's workforce are the same people that complain when EPS is lower than expected.
Either Tesla's costs are actively managed (which means periodic layoffs) or they're not.
You can't have it both ways.
It's unfortunate that Gary Black is getting steam-rollered recently, but I think a lot have had enough of the "talking-down" tone of his tweets and flat-out refusal to acknowledge FSD / Optimus as a contributor to $TSLA.

In 2018, I left Tesla. It was time. I was pretty beat up after 7 years or 28 quarters as we would express our time at Tesla. I was looking forward to a break, working a bit in the comfort that my $TSLA nest egg was my back up.
Tesla knows exactly how many Test-Drives are done in the first week of owning a Tesla with family & friends (it’s on average 7), so if FSD is pre-installed, this is an amazing bit of guerilla marketing and will increase awareness massively.
Tesla should pre-install FSD for the

I'm increasingly starting to believe, that if you want success in a given thing, you have to think one step removed from it.
- if you want more friends, focus on being a good friend.
- if you need someone to talk to, ask someone about their day / life / work / interests /
Am I right in saying that Gary Black no longer owns any $TSLA? At $170?
Just as FSD is going mainstream?
Just as Cybertruck is ramping?
Hope he doesn't get whiplashed...

I think one gains Elon’s respect by having a healthy discussion with him rather than the sack. But of course I didn’t think that at the time.
Nope, I‘d say it has more Space Karen vibes, Elon. Sorry - you can‘t say you‘re saving humanity and also suggest the it‘s not worth saving people from drowning. This is a bad take. Just bad form.

FSD will be finished about 2X as fast as we all expect. The great thing is, because it’s not a physical product, it can’t leak. It will absolutely take everyone by surprise when you see “software update available” one day.
