@paulshefftyke @COYRCOYRCOYR @BarnsleyMore @MKTarntyke Seems like the current teen generation is better than mine was and mine was better than my parents was with it. Obviously there's parents still out there teaching daft 1900s shit to their kids but feels like more parents are teaching acceptance these days.

People make change, more people that talk about acceptance the more the impressional generation will be open and respectful. They'll always be pockets of folk that won't but steps to change have made progress through past 40 years.

@COYRCOYRCOYR @mpbfc69 I did GCSE history so curriculum could have been slightly different to basic early school history that has been superseded in my brain but he wasn't painted as a saint for us. I didn't have Tory led education either though so ๐คทโโ๏ธ

@mpbfc69 @COYRCOYRCOYR Early 2000s we were taught the views of Churchill and the Indian subcontinent's treatment as well as the independent movements own questionable actions. He wasn't propped up as a saviour but was considered a war hero for his tactics.

@COYRCOYRCOYR If they wanna have a conversation about the education system as a whole then fair enough, plenty of it is functionally incompetent but to single out of R.E (and sometimes pshe) just highlights bigotry more than anything. I teach my kids to understand the things we disagree with.
