In the 70s, 'dude' referred to males, specifically. The female corollary was 'chick'. We used to use it to tell the difference. The usages and definitions have evolved, and I can respect that.

I saw one and used to drive one. A '64 Dodge Dart with a "Slant 6" engine. My dad would involve me in changing the oil or giving it a tune up, changing the points and plugs... Fan belts. Timing. We had it for over 200,000 miles.
