This is Kerstin Riffey. She should be graduating tomorrow, but she passed away last year. Her parents came to rehearsal tonight, and they gave me this picture. They told me how much she loved GCHS.
We will have a chair tomorrow for Kerstin with her class.
I sure do miss her.

It is with great honor that I can say that the class of 2018 has broken the record for our Graduation Rate at GCHS!!! The old record was 91%, and this year's class is currently at 92.4%!!! I am so proud of the kids, the faculty, and the staff!!!

I don’t get surprised very often, but this morning was definitely one of those times.
This wonderful group of Seniors camped out in our front yard to surprise me with signs, balloons and donuts for my last year as principal. They got here at 4 am just to surprise me.

It is tough balancing being a Principal and being a dad sometimes. Today is a great example.
I would have loved to cheer on the band or our cheerleaders, but instead we took Grayson to his first Notre Dame football game. I’ll remember this day for a long time!

What a day!!! The AC worked, the kids were great, and we graduated over 350 kids in less than 90 minutes!!!

I am so happy I got to hear the announcement that we were State Champs with this guy. Mr. Bryant deserves a lot of credit for this day - certainly more than I do.
He was so happy for the kids, adults, and our school. We even snuck onto the field to celebrate with the kids!

What a special treat this morning. Jim Ballard, the man who painted this mural almost 40 years ago, stopped by to get his picture taken and tell me the history behind it. Tomorrow, we are repainting the Main Gym - but we will continue to honor our history at GCHS!

It is official: the class of 2019 broke the record at GCHS for Graduation Rate! They finished at 93.32% - the highest in our 50 year history! I am so proud of the kids and our staff for their hard work.
And I know the class of 2020 will do their best to break that record!

We were very happy to hear the School Board approved our next bond tonight!
At the high school, we will be getting a new greenhouse, a new weight room, a new training room, new locker rooms, and a large expansion of our performing arts areas!!
It is a great day to be a Cougar!

I went to find Cooper and Gavin before we left wrestling tonight. Both had lost heartbreaking matches at the last second to 2 of the best wrestlers in the state. I could tell they were upset, but both guys shook my hand and thanked me for coming. I can’t tell you how proud I was.

I can guarantee you my teachers are working HARDER to adjust lessons to make them more meaningful for kids.
