Utterly bizarre. In my kitchen I’ve just found the rough layouts to a four page comic strip from 20 years* ago. It appears to be some sort of self help thing for me… . *I’ve only lived here for 15 years btw.

The reason I came across this series was due to someone posting Simon Bisley’s original cover art and saying the printed version lost lots of the colour of the original. Looked it up and they were right. Then I wondered what was inside the comic…. 3/

I don’t have the last part of the story because that issue has a cover featuring Marvel characters as zombies, people are taking that as the first appearance of Marvel Zombies, so it commands a silly price tag. Beavis and Butthead sort of make an appearance…. 2/

This appears towards the end of the Marvel Comics Presents anthology series comic. A Keith Giffen comic strip with his then recent Mars Attacks collaborator Charlie Adlard inking his pencils & Kevin Nowlan inking the cover. 1/

Tbh I hadn’t twigged the same person did the voice of Mr Benn too.

These days when I think of Ray Brooks, I think of the repeats of radio drama series Detective on Radio 4 Extra. In fact all four series are currently available to listen online. Bear in mind this is from the early 1980s with attitudes of the time etc .

Heavy Metal mag use to have a section of humorous one pagers. In 1993 for 1 issue, the creators swapped characters. Peter Kuper used Jim Woodring’s, Woodring used Randy the Skeleton, a character created by (award winning Shaun the Sheep writer) Ian Carney & artist Aidan Potts

I saw this as a little image, part of a Ted McKeever gallery in an old issue of Heavy Metal. It was the only picture I didn’t recall seeing before. So I googled it and discovered it appeared as a cover to a skateboard comic. The interior art by others, nowhere near as good though
