Mount Kelly had a fantastic day at the Bristol Grammar School 7s tournament. The boys played some excellent rugby throughout the day and came agonisingly close to a tournament win, losing with the last kick of the match. #mountkellysport #rugby7s #itstheclimb

Middle Prep pupils enjoyed listening to Ann Marcer share her experiences of working with VSO in Nepal as a Teacher Trainer in the village of Phillim at the Buddha Ma Vi Secondary school. They learnt what it was like to live and go to school in the mountains and the difficulties encountered. Following a devastating earthquake, Ann chose to stay on in the country and, with the support of UNICEF, identify communities where schools had been damaged to ensure the building of temporary structures so education could continue. #UNICEF #volunteering #itstheclimb

Pupils in Year 9 have been working on their designing and making skills to solder and integrate LED lighting modules into a range of structure-inspired hardwood lamps. Using planed square lengths of poplar timber they have been using bolted connections and glued joints to build a profile or sculpture on a plywood base that is then lit up using a USB powered LED array. #DesignTechnology

Mount Kelly Prep Swimmers travelled to Millfield School to take part in the regional round of IAPS Swimming 2025. For some of these pupils, it was their first time competing in a swimming competition. You all did an amazing job, and we hope you had a great time! Thank you @MillfieldSwim for hosting such a great event yesterday. All the swimmers enjoyed it very much. #letsgomountkelly #mkfamily #iaps #iapsswimming2025

Our Year 13 BTEC Applied Science pupils wrapped up warm and enjoyed a wonderful evening of astronomy. As part of their course, they were required to make observations of various celestial objects. They identified constellations, taking measurements of the stars Rigel and Betelgeuse. They also took careful measurements of the star Polaris, and sketched the positions of the planets Venus, Mars and Jupiter onto a star map. Clear skies allowed for some excellent star gazing and, using the telescope, they viewed the crescent shape of Venus, and were excited to see the moons of Jupiter. #appliedscience

To mark the completion of stage one of our Library Regeneration project, the inaugural literary dinner took place on Friday evening, with pupils presenting on a selection of classic and seminal texts from the Year 1925. The Headmaster and Mrs Ayling, alongside our Reading Governor, Wendy Davies, were delighted to take part in a short reading of J.M.Barrieโs 'Mary Rose', a fittingly ambient play, published in 1925; a copy of which, poignantly inscribed โDear Mother,โ was unearthed during the recent shelf sorting. Many thanks to the catering team who prepared a delicious meal to accompany our literary delights, and finally, to Mrs Holwill for her excellent literary themed cakes. #literarydinner

An enthusiastic audience was treated to a wonderful array of performances in the College Library on Wednesday 5 February, with no fewer than 18 musicians involved. There were outstanding songs and instrumental numbers which showcased violin, trumpet, piano and marimba. The atmosphere was friendly and supportive and the talent on display was most impressive. Well done to everyone involved! #mountkellymusic

Year 2 pupils have been looking at clothes from around the world and were really interested in the variety of tartans used to show which family you belong to. The children have enjoyed designing their own tartan on the computer, recreating it on square paper and have even tried weaving their own designs!
