The brewery on Thomas' branch line has a small yard for loading barrels. A steam lorry called Elizabeth handles local deliveries, and the railway takes them further away. But one day, a rude lorry had taken Elizabeth's place.

Dust from the quarry on Thomas' Branch Line is often blown down the valley and settles on the roads. A water cart helps keep the dust under control.
One day, Thomas was dozing in the morning sun when he was suddenly hit by a jet of water.
