@EODHappyCaptain My loadmaster perspective of Afghanistan was snow capped mountains and valleys. Sometimes it smelled really nice outside.

@smolship1 Agreed. I’m a fan of nichrome and thermate. But these are ok with minimal enhancements.

Carbon bullet flys great. Vertical landings and high contrast makes locating it very easy.

Finished the upper stage of an Estes multi roc this weekend. It’s an 18mm to 18mm two stage. With the amount of fin it sims out stable with a 24mm booster.

Fins are surface mounted. Flight profile set. Pre Drilled fin roots. Weaving/cramming carbon fibers into the drilled fins Fillets is tomorrow’s problem.

Mann 200 parting spray worked out perfectly. Epoxy to epoxy, very satisfying breakaway. Tool is ready for carbon fiber.

Mann sprayed the best blank I made. (release agent). Stabbed it into the freshly made tool fluid. This should work maybe!

Update on the Estes Orange bullet. Laminating the stock balsa nose didn’t work out. Turning new blanks to make negative tools. Will be able to cast unlimited parabolic forged carbon nose cones.

Forged carbon fiber nose cone. I let the resin and fiber green under vacuum. Almost clay like when I wrapped with peel ply and compressed with a lot of electrical tape around the nose. Don’t have high hopes. But it’s a start, can lathe and reset if necessary.

Peel ply worked great, separating the spent motor from the tube. Beer can wrap kept voids from forming. No air bubbles.
