What a lovely reply to a vile tweet. What you have been through is truly dreadful and I have the greatest respect for what you are doing. Sending lots of love. If I was in the States, I would stand with you😻
@riseofmen
@FrancesBacon1
Nonsense women earn their own money these days… all the ones I know so aren’t in the market for a patriarchal controlling set up
I got a positive rejection today for a novella written in the present tense. The publisher gave me a great deal of positive feedback, he just didn’t like the fact that it was in that tense. Does anyone like novels written in the present tense?
@neuroticlullaby
Judging by these replies, I can only think that many of you live in a dodgy area or that the parents of your kids friends are sketchy strangers.🤔
@haymes_joshua
No, forcing people into acting out rigid gender roles in a marriage just makes people super anxious and judgy and jealous of people who are free of them. Not all women are domestic.Most men are not natural leaders. Facts
@VitMammaBjorn
No one is calling anyone naive. People you implicitly trust can let you down and if you don’t have a job or your own money , you can be left with nothing, it has literally happened to thousands of people, especially women
@haymes_joshua
All this quibbling about Adam and Eve and it all boils down to men just wanting to feel superior and to boss their partners around and pretend religion justifies it
@DuckieLouise
Yup also I’m going to interpret it exactly how my pastor told me to,ignoring the fact that other religious experts interpret it differently, some very differently… because this interpretation aligns nicely with my bigotry
@emrazz
And that’s it right there. I grew up in an era when all men considered themselves omnipotent and most women doubted themselves. Thank God that’s changing
@neuroticlullaby
Ok, in this area, amongst the people I know,it would still be considered an overreaction… I’m thinking it is a bit area/ country dependant though.
@tallowmom
It was all the smugness about picking the unicorn men who would never ever leave, that annoyed everyone( other women and their ‘bad’ choices).Still need to have your own money😁
Ok.Fellow querying writers… having had a quick look at Query tracker and observing exactly how many queries these agents get, compared to how many they accept, it feels kind of completely HOPELESS🙄
@KaeleyT
In the UK, all the middle-aged women are on HRT… I literally don’t know of a single person that isn’t! ( except me because I had breast cancer) and yet know of zero teen boys on hormones. I’m not sure that it is as prolific as the tabloid scaremongers make out🤔
@DrJessTaylor
This is because it’s uncomfortable for people to rock the boat… far easier to bury your head in the sand. The ones who expose the truth are always seen as troublemakers🙄
@thetexasbird
What benefits? You’re implying that women who have epidurals have nasty side effects… nope, most don’t… and people can also have nasty issues after a non- medicated birth.
@HeidiHarrisShow
@riseofmen
@FrancesBacon1
No. I am married to a good man, thanks. Conservative men bleating about the single women available to them are just annoyed they can’t find anyone to control as they want
@befaithful10
You are literally proving her point. You can decide for yourself, your family( because no doubt you are a patriarch) but unfortunately, you can’t decide what everyone else believes or what they deem acceptable because separation of church and state, also fascism🙄
@PastorTrey05
My biggest argument against people ‘choosing’ to be gay is that people are literally gay in countries where it is punishable by death… why would anyone choose that?
@SpiritedSparr0w
@peeppeeparoo
No one goes into a marriage positive that the other person will leave, but you never know, it is never impossible… the SAHM is in a vulnerable position without her own money however you look at it
I just made the cutest discovery: I was reading a few paragraphs aloud, to see if they made sense, which I never normally do, when the kitten chirped and settled down next to me, purring. She likes being read to!😻
@ljhanson_writes
I am sorry that he doesn’t support you, that is unfair. All writers struggle, all artists too, it is part of the process. I am guessing he is not creative but he should still be supporting you. It is part of the marriage deal😻
@WomnOfValor
Yup it’s really not great for men either because it puts the burden of all the finances squarely on their shoulders if the wife is told she can’t work! I honestly do not know any men who would want that!
@N8turewitch
@neuroticlullaby
At 13? No. I would be trusting the parents whose house she is at.If I didn’t trust them she would not be there.I cannot police the social life of other adults. That is weird tbh.
@sorryitsrachel
Don’t!! Use it as a down payment for a flat or something else! The idea is that you make money from writing,not the other way round🙄Also, I wouldn’t make that kind of announcement on social media😁
@motherpilled
Almost nobody has a ‘strengthened pelvic floor’ post pregnancy😂A huge percentage of women become incontinent and for some it never goes away
@godlywomanhood
Abuse is not only physical. If a woman is constantly belittled and coercively controlled by her husband and her children are witnessing this, it is bad for her but also it is teaching them to mimic a toxic mode of behaviour.
@daringlucile
@motherpilled
Exactly…. Loads of women are utterly and completely traumatised by unmedicated births. If that’s what you want for yourself, fine, but do not force it on others as some trumped up moral/ religious obligation, that is just nasty
@TheMuppetPastor
@ApplauseSv
@TEStoneWrites
The original post mentioned ‘romance novels’ not specifically smut, and many of them are just sweet. Either way good luck to anyone telling me what I’ m ‘allowed’ to read😂
@LukeInAmerica
@AniseNot
That’s very sad and would have been much sadder for you had you not had your own money to fall back on, it is only that point we’re discussing: people having their own money😁
@Nickyshearsby22
My self pub is not professionally edited and I haven’t had any negative feedback about the editing. I was an English teacher though, hopefully my grammar is passable😹
@Prolife_Sam
How are we ‘confused’? I’ve been a SAHM and now I work because I get bored at home. It’s not super hard to understand. You want to be entirely dependant on your husbands and other women don’t.
@igobyvegas
@jordanRKirk
@RenOfMen
Honestly, those young girls look like they’re having a blast and couldn’t care less what anyone thinks, least of all conservative men. Which is exactly what riles the theobros up the most… not being heard😂
@Lily_Warrior
@poysea
Yup, I don’t understand why women do that to themselves! So many of the men are pompous and sanctimonious and the women have to ‘submit’… it makes my skin crawl
@emilykmay
@Sondra_Rose5
I think all women should be financially independent because no one knows what’s going to happen and as you said yourself, you are really vulnerable. Your own credit card, your own savings at least
@WhyRWeHere99
I help😂Also they will imprison all the feminists and anyone with dissenting views. All the women will have long hair and seven hundred kids, the men will be bearded, their expressions sanctimonious and smug
@cantaloop888
@mikepantile
@marshalldukat
Because OnlyFans is the only alternative to the Handmaid’s Tale? ! There is a middle ground… intelligent, independent young women with a good job… super common phenomenon🙄
@KaeleyT
Women should never be financially dependant on a man for precisely this reason, otherwise they are trapped should things go wrong. It’s such an obvious concept, I am amazed that anyone even debates it
@_nomadic_soul
@LizCharlotteG
Exactly, I don’t understand how this misogynist fundamentalism can be anything other than damaging to women and enabling of abuse
@jodyjsperling
I have self- published one short mystery but wish I hadn’t because apparently that sabotages all future efforts to find traditional publishers for my other books. It is the marketing which I struggle with
@mrsdobbins_
It’s not a moral issue, there is nothing immoral about being cosy and comfortable in bed and watching TV… but streaming and phones everywhere make it a moot point
@Lily_Warrior
@poysea
Wow! I am in the UK where it is not as prevalent, but I feel like I have lost one particular friend to the one evangelical church in the area and their misogyny and greed astounds me
@godlywomanhood
The Christian side sounds miserable. Also feminists don’t raise their daughters to ‘fornicate’, you can have morals and not be a Christo Fascist, most people do
@riahthelee
I don’t complain. I recall many hours of boredom interspersed with reading any books I could get my hands on. Yes, of course reading is great, it’s my favourite activity but I love that my kids have a choice now.
