@dustinhollywood These are all cool tools but they all have a very similar look and feel in my opinion. There’s an artifice to it all and the image outputs are unnaturally homogeneous. Though likely to get much better. For me tho nothing will ever top people on 35 mm.

@editingmae I think these tools have the potential to enhance creativity and also make it harder for people to make a living off their creativity, similar to how tech made music production more accessible 20 years ago while also making it harder for musicians to earn a living wage.

@hasantoxr I don’t think AI can yet approach the work of great editors, but I’m aware that in most cases “great” is not necessarily the standard and in that arena AI will soon reign. Certainly a handy tool for the best editors as well.

@adammharvey I get that there can be a lot of stress as editors but I feel like one can choose to not indulge it more easily than in other positions. At the end of the day what’s the worst that can happen?

Were any other editors disappointed with the recent Mpeg survey ahead of our contract negotiations? For me at least it felt fairly out of touch, and the fact that AI was not treated as a high level priority worries me.
