Being able to show your kids your massive face on a bus, launching your brand new radio shows on a brand new network is a feeling I’d never even dare dream that I’d experience. But the universe seems to have better plans... although it didn’t disturb Mini Jam’s nap!
I LOVE radio.
I'm truly passionate about great, uplifting music.
I adore being able to support new music & artists.
To be able to launch a brand new national DAB station playing Dance music past, present AND future?
Priceless.
That was a massive bucket list✅
@capitaldance
SURPRISE!!
I’ve been completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love you have sent. Thank you all so very very much, it really does mean a lot. I know I’ve not responded but I’ve been silent for a reason... because the next chapter begins today.
Do you know who would get the most joy from me not being on national radio tomorrow?
The racist scum who drove that car into that young King in Bristol.
My existence on the air is a protest in itself. I hope every link burns their cowardly souls.
and am so grateful to have been a part of.
I want to thank the entire team both past and present at 1Xtra & Radio 1 for allowing this Black kid from Nottingham a chance to be a broadcaster but most of all, I’d like to thank every single person who’s ever given me their ears.
I’ve managed to achieve A LOT in my time at the BBC - and am grateful for every second - but have always suffered what I came to learn was a poverty of aspiration within broadcasting and the music industry in this country. /1
From joining in 2005 to host an overnight HipHop show on 1Xtra to turning Radio 1’s Dance Anthems into the most listened to show on BBC Sounds for under 35’s, it’s been an amazing journey filled with moments I’ll never forget.
Still can’t quite believe this is all happening... but it is! My massive face on the side of buses 🤯😂

But you know what? I love it as much today as I always have. If not more.
That feeling I used to get, sitting in my bedroom, playing records I loved? Still get that.
But these days, I’ve got an audience much bigger than the audience I used to have in my bedroom 😂🧸 🙏🏾
11 yrs ago,
@AnnieMac
very kindly invited me to do a MiniMix on her show after hearing me on Friday's on
@1Xtra
Felt right to pay it forward to the mighty
@JeremiahAsiamah
(who's currently on Friday's on 1X) while I cover her show for the last time... and he's GONE IN! 🙏🏾🖤
Thank you Stormzy - an artist I’m lucky enough to have interviewed and supported first on national radio - for putting it on the agenda so
@BBCCiN
&
@1Xtra
would do this 🙏🏾🖤 /6
Nottingham & East Midlands have Cob, Mardy, tabs, code, d'jwontoat and duck. What are those slang words from your area that only people from your area understand??
@Chris_Stark
Welcome to Fatherhood Chris. Your life is about to take on new purpose and meaning. The years of late nights in clubs will stand you in good stead for the night feeds. You’re gonna love every second and will smash it 🙏🏾🖤
