This week S1 began their nutrients unit, learning about the 5 key nutrients and their functions. The pupils made fabulous, sausage, broccoli and cheese pasta bakes and analysed the recipe to identify the sources of each nutrient. 🧀🥦

🍓🫐Fruit Smoothies🫐🍓 This morning at breakfast club we made fruit smoothies. The pupils selected their fillings for their smoothies, before using a new piece of equipment to expertly and safely blend their smoothies. Lots of smiley faces with their finished smoothies!

This week N5 practical cookery mastered tri-coloured bread. The pupils learned about the function of yeast and expertly needed their dough to stretch the gluten. They perfectly pleated their final dough to create these amazing breads.

This week the pupils made incredible reindeer cupcakes and christmas biscuits to get into the christmas spirit 🎄☃️ One of the highlights was receiving these lovely Christmas cards from S1&S2 pupils. They showcased their amazing languages skills writing their message in Spanish.

🍕Miss Ferguson’s pizzeria was open for business today!🍕 S2 made these amazing pizzas, showcasing their kneading, shaping, rolling out and baking skills. We created a word cloud on @Mentimeter to highlight all the nutrients found in our pizzas.

A fantastic day @Foodafactoflife conference @AbertayUni today! It was fascinating listening to all the interesting guest speakers and taking part in the amazing sessions. What a fabulous event for networking and getting to meet lots of like-minded professionals.

This week S1 began looking at how culture can affect food choice. They fabulously made a south african chakalaka relish with tortilla chips! 🇿🇦 They then completed research on other dishes that are popular across Africa and shared what they found on @padlet.
