I'd also add Nico has mismanaged the PR front about as poorly as a GM could. He "owned it" by awkwardly making jokes and refusing to appear in Dallas yesterday when the players were introduced. I think Nico thought he had cooked on this deal, but once he realized the size of the PR blowback, he realized he was in a world of trouble. When we talk about living in your ecosystem, nearly every guy Nico has brought in has been a guy he knows from Nike. I'd argue Nico thinks he's the reason the Mavs have succeeded and not the 5 time ALL NBA's first-team player that got them there.
