For a long time now I have had a very uncharitable attitude toward those that don’t agree with me both spiritually and politically. I’ve name called and just been really vicious and ugly, justifying the attitude anyway I could. The thing is, I’m in sin by doing so. It’s not courageous to come out against the wickedness of the world with a vileness of your own. I don’t believe this is the mission God called me to. Yes, as a writer engaging politics and culture I must faithfully call out evil and preach the gospel, upholding and presenting God’s Word as the solution to our societal woes. However, I don’t need to be an ass to do so. I can be a savage, an absolute monster ruthlessly tearing apart the works of the devil by the power of Christ without becoming the very thing I’m trying to destroy. We’re to tear down demonic strongholds, using boldness and truth as the weapons of our warfare. But we are to be surgical in the precision of our strikes, loathing evil, lies, false beliefs, ideas and on it goes. The goal is not just the defeat of an enemy, but the saving of souls. It’s not about being right and winning debates. Not if the endgame is about anything other than truly preserving the truth, glorifying God, and winning souls. I take things personally that should be set aside and forgiven, just as Christ forgave those who mocked and insulted him with a crown of thorns. Pray I grow and do better. That I would be a vessel consumed by the glory of Christ and that seeing His name be praised would be my be all, end all.

His post popped up on my feed for some reason so I responded. I despise it because it’s part of the radical reformation that moved the church further away from its roots and truth. I was Calvinist for 20 years. I was a student of theology reading all I could get my hands on. Watching thousands of sermons and lectures. All to discover these doctrines are abhorrent to real Christianity. They paved the way for Baptists and non denominational sects that have done significant damage to our faith. So yeah. Cory is absolutely spot on. I am indeed overwhelmed. I have never in my life been excited about a president before Trump took office on Jan. 20. I knew he was the right for the job when he took a bullet to the ear and popped back up like a boss with one fist pumping defiantly in the air. And now, things I only dreamed of happening in the past, things I’ve discussed should be done to fix this country, are being moved from the realm of possibility to concrete reality.
