The absolute worst thing about the AD job this year is telling people they can’t go to games and support our athletes. Please be patient with your local AD as we deal with crowd rules and restrictions and EEA guidelines. It’s a work in progress with safety as the priority!
After 22 seasons, I will be stepping down as Head Girls BB Coach at Mansfield. It has been an honor to work with so many dedicated young women and talented asst. coaches and to coach against the great teams/coaches in the Hockomock League. Very thankful for this great experience!
Mansfield High School welcomed NFL great Rob Gronkowski to Alumni Field today for the filming of his comeback documentary. Unfortunately we could not convince to stay with NE, but wish him the best in Tampa!
Does anyone find it alarming that middle school students are playing contact football during December and in the spring? I love the game, but it's a fall sport and adding more contact at that age is simply unnecessary. Football has avoided specialization-please keep it that way!
Please keep in your prayers the Zonghetti family on the loss of their son Matt during an avalanche in New Mexico whlie skiing. Simply one of the finest young men I ever had the honor of coaching. Hoping he’s in a better place but we will all miss him.
Congratulations to Dave Redding (my father) on his retirement from Mansfield Public Schools. After retiring from the private sector, he served the district in many different capacities for nearly two decades and has to hold school record for most photos taken of MHS students!
Congrats to TJ Guy on his official signing with Michigan. First Hornet (we are aware of) to play for Michigan and in the Big Ten conference for football! TJ chatting below with Head Coach Harbaugh and family photo! Go Blue!
Thanks to Andre Tippett and the NE Patriots for offering me the opportunity to attend the Super Bowl in Miami with my son PJ. Once in a lifetime event and very much appreciated. Just need 3 tickets next year so my daughters can attend. Lol
The MIAA has created an athletic calendar with four seasons but none of the seasons overlap so you do not have to choose between sports. And if you are interested, you can participate in all four seasons! The “new” season is Fall 2 with football, volleyball and cheer on 2/22.
TJ Guy of Mansfield won a state title his junior year but, despite being undefeated in his senior year, didn’t get to play for a title due to Covid restrictions! Now he’ll be fitted for an NCAA National
Championship Ring!
For the last decade, high school and college football coaches have done a great job of reducing contact to increase player safety and now we have adults offering middle school contact football in the off season? Doesn’t make sense does it if we truly value the health of players?
I will miss senior introductions this morning. I will miss shaking Coach Martinelli’s hand for the 33rd time. I will miss watching the silver and gold helmets clash in battle. I will miss seeing the former players in the crowd. This great tradition of 90 yrs will continue!
Really need to re-evaluate how much opponent value factors into Power Rating. 50% is significant and if your mandated league games are reducing your Opponent value you have no options. Everett should be in the playoffs at 7-1 and should not be sitting at home.
It's been an honor to represent Mansfield as the AD for the last 2 yrs and thanks to all of the coaches and students for their dedication and enthusiasm! Congrats to Tim Selmon on accepting this role moving forward and MHS Athletics is in great hands with his passion and spirit!

We lost an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt last night but heaven gained an angel. She was one of the Hornets biggest fans for over 3 decades and I’ll miss our post game hugs. And of course the Red Sox lost their most loyal fan!
Best of luck to all the Hockomock football teams competing in the Semifinals this weekend-Franklin, KP, Milford, NA and Foxboro! Is there a better league in the state? Hock Strong! Best of luck!
