Sometimes there are clear moments in a game where you’re like, “ok yeah… they’re definitely gonna win this one.”
This was that moment for me last night. Luka is a mad man.
The Dallas Mavericks had a "great film session" on Monday, seeking to clean up the NBA's worst defense since the All-Star break and reduce turnovers.
After Sunday's loss, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving mentioned needing to step up as leaders.

Why haven’t we heard anything from all these national nba media folks about Canada and SGA losing to a Serbia team without Jokic??? Does this mean Bogdan is better than SGA now??? WHERE’S THE ESPN “ELIMINATED” GRAPHIC WITH SGA?!?!?!
The Mavs don’t have a single BAD contract on their roster now. Kleber is closest to that territory but he’s still not a horrible contract.
Sweet justice.
When the Mavs got within 2 in the mid-3rd quarter and Kidd elected to stick to his normal rotations and put THJ in, instead of riding it out a little longer with the hot group… that’s when the game was lost
Note: Robinhood absolutely should not be stopping trading of GameStop. Market mechanisms include the reality that some people will attempt to game the market mechanisms -- and some will pay the price. Restricting who can buy and sell is using a hammer on free markets.
Tim MacMahon on the Hoop Collective, re: Bullock being traded to Spurs:
“You might find some people around the Mavs facility who would whisper that moving Bullock in the trade, one benefit is that Jason Kidd can’t play him over Josh Green now…”
Totally agree
Bill Simmons said the difference between Dallas winning in 6 and OKC winning in 7 was “a few rebounds and a little bit of luck.”
Keep sleeping on Dallas.
You’ll see.
“Mavericks played a bad clippers team.”
Zero mention of how OKC played an 8 seed without their best player and without a single player who showed any willingness to rise to the moment.
Okay. We’ll see.
Mark & Harp did a great job of being welcoming on that walk off interview with Kyrie. You can tell Kyrie has a predisposition to think the media is out to get him, so he’s defensive, but they did a great job of opening him up and being joyful.
Another thing, let’s be nice, relatively, to THJ as he leaves Dallas soon. He did more good than bad in his tenure in Dallas. He played above his role many times. He doesn’t fit here anymore (hasn’t for a bit), but let’s be nice to the person.
Michael Jordan didn’t win his first chip until his 7th season, LeBron got his first in his 9th. Luka about to have his first in his 4th season. Love to see it
Tim MacMahon on The Hoop Collective podcast:
“If the Mavericks make a run, people are going to know JOSH GREEN really well by the end of this postseason.”

Kyrie has attempted 1 free throw combined in the 2 games since his return. Insanity from the NBA officials whenever he’s fouled on pretty much every layup attempt he has.
So a 1st rd swap & Holmes for Gafford
2027 1st, Grant & Seth for PJ and two 2nds
Mavs go into the summer with FOUR 2nd round picks and TWO 1st round picks available for trade
The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they agreed to the right to swap their own 2028 first-round pick with Oklahoma City’s own 2028 first-round pick in order to obtain a 2024 first-round pick from the Thunder.
I’m sorry but if you don’t take into account in the MVP debate that Luka’s starting lineups have been the most injured amongst all the true candidates, compared to others who have been supremely healthy, then I’m not listening to your case. Stop using selective context.
I just need to know why Jokic’s 2021-2022 MVP year that the “look at the team around him” debate with him winning 48 games as a 6 seed is only used for that season and not now in 2023-2024? Mavs are on a 47 win pace with Luka’s 2 best teammates missing 25-50% of the games this yr
I’m sorry but if you don’t take into account in the MVP debate that Luka’s starting lineups have been the most injured amongst all the true candidates, compared to others who have been supremely healthy, then I’m not listening to your case. Stop using selective context.
Jaden Hardy is VERY close to etching both Exum and THJ out of the rotation bc of his play. I am so proud of him for being great in these small moments. He’s not perfect, but he’s growing his game in the WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS right before our eyes
Daniel Gafford is better than Dereck Lively at this point, and I am happy that it’s true. I love DLive, and he’s the future for this team, but Gafford being this good in Dallas right away gives them a contending window now instead of 2 years from now.
Them assist numbers inflated too. He’ll give a dribble handoff and the other guy will cook for 7 seconds and the stat keeper will give him the assist still
I’ve never liked Sabonis at any point in his career but I respected what he did once he got traded to Sacramento but I think he’s

on my hate list.
Throwing all them fucking elbows but missing bunnies with the money on the line
Mavs are 37-28. 8th seed in the West.
They would be 0.5GB of 4 seed in the East.
Don’t let anyone ever tell you the East is ever better than the West, or even in the same stratosphere.
Ever.
No disrespect to DJJ & Josh Green, but you would think they were members of the Bad Boy Pistons on defense with how so many people are talking about Dallas’ defense “going to be horrible” next year.
Y’all be fr for like 5 seconds please
Wilbon knows zero about basketball. How can you say the Mavs aren’t playing as a team and call out Luka for it whenever his teammates are bricking wide open 3s off of amazing passes by him? I hate basketball national media
“The Lakers would never do a LeBron trade with Dallas. They have nothing the Lakers would want in a trade! THJ? bullock? YUCK!!!”
“The Mavs should take DLo on a 30 million/year deal and Beasley for Kyrie. The lakers could easily pull this off.”
Imbeciles
Klay Thompson led the ENTIRE NBA in FT% last year, shooting 92.7% from the stripe.
He now joins the Mavericks, who were DEAD LAST in playoff FT%…
Between Kyrie and Klay, Dallas now has 2 of the top 15 active career FT% leaders.
Underrated part of the acquisition. 🤔
12:29: Josh Mazur reports Dallas thinks DJJ re-sign is done deal
1:46: Tim Cato casts doubt on DJJ returning
2:00: Stein reports Dallas still confident they will retain DJJ even if they also get Klay
PJ: “For me, I mean, I just try to impact the game the best where I can and for one night if it’s shooting, then it will be shooting and defense. But for the most part, I feel like I can defend each and every night. And that just comes with pride and effort.”

The Bulls had less then $15million cap space to begin free agency and they signed Caruso, Ball and traded for DeMar. Get outta here with making excuses yet again
Fouls called:
Dallas - 14
Denver - 6
Free throws attempted:
Dallas - 10
Denver - 18
At least 5-6 blatant missed calls/wrong calls in this one all in favor of Denver.
I hate having to talk about officiating every game, but Jesus it’s always awful.
Something crazy here, Fox had a similar play last night in clutch time in the 4th and they called a foul for him. Luka doesn’t get the same call here. Luka & Kyrie combined for 7 FT attempts and Fox had 14.
The Mavs next trade has to be the big one. The Jrue Holiday trade. Thats the type of trade you do next. They’ve worked every margin they possibly could without touching their most prized assets. Let’s see how this roster does and then go from there.
Mavs without Luka & Green are down by 2 to the fully healthy Thunder and there’s zero talk about them on the TNT halftime show. How is Ernie Johnson letting this happen
Mavs are 1-2 legit pieces away from being a title favorite. Their roster has some very good players on it, just not enough yet. They’re building there. They’ve shown the ability and awareness to move on from past mistakes and build around their star. Give it time.
This is the first time Dallas will have their entire top-10 intended rotation healthy for the same game since October 27, 2023 at home vs Brooklyn.
That was the 2nd game of the entire season
Luka Dončić (left ankle sprain & broken nose), Maxi Kleber (nasal fracture) and Dereck Lively II (nasal fracture) will be AVAILABLE tonight against the Celtics.
Shame on every single Mavs media member or employee who shamed Mavs fans on Twitter for calling them out for the horrible job they’ve done for 3 years now.
The reason Dallas hasn’t hashed out a deal with Phoenix yet for Ayton is bc of the same reason they didn’t make a trade with

until they were on the clock in the draft. You have to wait out your options and there’s still time to do so. Let’s be patient.
If Mavs don’t come out tonight and win this game then they’re wasting their best opportunity to make a run in the playoffs since 2011. They have to take care of business
Luka & Kyrie hugging as they walk to midcourt and then calling the team over to huddle midcourt after the comeback W is 100% absolutely going to be on the championship dvd
If Mavs win tonight against Utah and the Warriors lose to the Nuggets (they will bc they are sitting all of their good players), then Dallas will only be 3 GB Warriors for the 3 seed, and 0.5 GB of Utah for the 4 seed, 3.5 GB of Memphis for the 2 seed
If you wondered how Bill Simmons still thinks about Luka, Kyrie & the Mavs, and you want to laugh this morning…. he has the Mavs ranked 11th in his power rankings.
He has the Thunder, Hawks, Lakers all in front of Dallas.
Not mad. Just funny to hear and listen to this AM.
The more I think about it, Naji is definitely going to play some 4 for Dallas. His size is closer to PJ than it is DJJ.
I like it. Hate to see DJJ go, but I welcome Naji in with open arms.
Dinwiddie out here clutching multiple games for the Mavs while KP complains about ball movement 2 games into his Wizards career and missing more games than he plays. You love to see it
"I've never had a game winner like that"
The man of the hour! Maxi Kleber breaks down the buzzer beat in LA to give the Mavericks the win 🥳

What a pathetic franchise. You resort to hack-a-Lively the final 6 minutes of a playoff game bc you can’t guard the other team. What a loser franchise.
National Media: “Luka, you need more team success to be considered for MVP”
*Luka & Mavs have highest team success in the NBA for a 40% stretch of the season*
Also, National Media: “You should’ve been doing this the whole time. Too little too late, sorry chubs.”
One underrated thing for the Mavs is that they’ve gotten considerably more athletic this offseason, and that’s been a knock on them for a while. Javale, Hardy, Wood are much more athletic than Brunson, KP, & the bench players we traded for Wood
@AdamRiggs6
Absolutely. Gafford was essential to the team’s success the past 3 months and he is essential for the next 1-2 seasons at minimum. Starting-caliber centers don’t just become available. We can’t take gafford for granted.
