It's been a year since my dad's great American life ended, two months after his 99th birthday. I miss him every day. Still imagine making my afternoon call to him, hearing him give me the same answer every time I asked how he was doing. "Great!" he'd say, before eventually ending.
My dad, Bene Lupica, of the 165th Bombardment Group, 783rd Bombardment Squadron, passed gently away this morning at 99. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and the kindest and best man I have ever known. I loved him more than I can ever properly express.
