I still think about this sometimes. The country just went a bit mad didn't it?.
Captain Sir Thomas Moore may have sadly passed away in February, but he tops the list of people Britons say had the biggest impact on the world in 2021. Captain Tom - 21%.Donald Trump - 9%.Greta Thunberg - 7%.Boris Johnson - 6%.Elon Musk - 6%.

Armenia is like a legendary difficulty faction. You're a tiny, poor, landlocked country, surrounded by mortal enemies far more powerful than you. Your only ally is Russia, and relations with them are strained. Your only soft power asset is the Kardashians. Good luck.
BREAKING:. The Armenian Army is moving toward the border with Azerbaijan. The Azeri Army is conducting large military exercises and the Armenians claim it could be a cover for planned military aggression. The situation is very tense in the Caucasus

It's wild how violent Chicago is. America's third city regularly has years where it records more murders than the entire UK. No matter how bad things get here it's worth remembering that the new world is on another planet when it comes to violence.

The opposite end of the spectrum to this is probably Israel: the poorest looking rich country. Drop yourself at random in street view there and most of what you see looks like Baghdad. Yet its richer than the UK (Poor People's Parity copecels incoming).
Remembering visiting Azerbaijan for the first time and arriving into Baku from the airport and being really impressed - the city feels almost set up to wow dignitaries and businessmen flying in and out on short trips. The road from the airport to the city centre is adorned with

Cameron's plan was to import the whole of Eastern Europe and turn the UK into a 250 million strong Anglo-Slavic hyperpower that sat atop a fortress EU. It was Anglofuturism all right, we just didn't realise it 😔.
- Massively cut black & brown immigration.- Massively increased white immigration.- Only major Western leader not to take large numbers of Syrians in 2015.- Demolished Calais jungle, built wall around Eurotunnel, ended lorry stowaways.- No small boats. Was David Cameron based? 🤔

I'm done with boomers:. - Retirement age to 70, then ↑ with life exp.- Means test like Australia, no opt-out from work pension.- Scrap triple lock, tie to avg earnings.- Pay tax & NI on all their pension.- Docked if emigrate.- Scrap free transport, eye tests, TV, fuel allowance.
'Why do you hate pensioners?' . @loosewomen panellist Janet Street Porter asks the PM, saying 'pensioners have come out worse under the Tories'. @RishiSunak insists 'I care deeply about pensioners'

Two things that were predicted with near certainty in the 1990s:. - Quebec would become independent.- Australia would become a Republic. Now they're both complete memes. Never assume the future is fixed.
After what has been a lengthy campaign by The Australian Monarchist League, The Prime Minister has abolished the Ministry for the Republic. This is not just a win for monarchists but for the taxpayer and for democracy. Official statement to follow. #VoteNoRepublic #Democracy

I remember that a huge theme on the right circa 2005-2016 was the fear that Muslims in the West would form Islamist parties and steadily take over legislatures until they could implement nationwide Sharia law. Well, we now have plenty of Muslim lawmakers. and they're all woke.
All four Muslim members of the Scottish Parliament - Kaukab Stewart, Foysol Choudhury, Anas Sarwar and Humza Yousaf - have voted for law which will make it easier for people who want to change their legal gender.

A striking feature of Britain's huge immigration wave of 2022- is how we're getting large numbers from completely new source regions:. - Central Asia.- Latin America.- Albania.- Ukraine.- Vietnam. Non-EU. Non-Commonwealth. Little to no historical connection. Something very new.
🇻🇳 Vietnamese nationals are now the largest group crossing illegally on small boats to the UK. @CordeliaSkyNews has been to rural central Vietnam to track down the people smugglers driving the surge 👇.

I've been thinking about Pat Buchanan's 'culture war' speech a lot recently, especially this part.
Really struggling to understand how we’ve reached a stage where kids running amok in Oxford Street, looting, harassing and going toe-to-toe with (largely ineffective) police has become an occurrence not even considered to be newsworthy in London.

I told someone when this incident broke that as soon as the Marine found out the homeless guy had died he should have been driving to the airport to get a flight to a country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with the US. All so predictable. Now he's fucked.

Right wingers used to laugh about students 'wasting' their money on 'useless' degrees like gender studies. But today equality & diversity is the fastest growing area of employment in the UK, commanding colossal salaries, all mandated by equality law. Who's laughing now?.

@cammyclare Japan having a GDP/capita just 62% of Mississippi's breaks people's brains because they see the later with its almost 40% black population and near total absence of public transport and think "this doesn't compute with what my image of wealth looks like, it can't be true".

We retired our Harriers in 2010 while the Americans/Italians/Spanish are keeping them until 2030. We threw away 20 years of useful capability and fleet size.
The amazing Harrier - still achieving air-air kills. 🇺🇸USMC AV-8B Harrier IIs operating from USS Baatan have been shooting down Houthi drones in the Red Sea, including one pilot 'ace' with 7 recorded kills. H/T @Osinttechnical

Finally found the meme I was looking for to go with the original tweet. Hits right in the feels.
There's something very depressing about being born mid-late 90s, in terms of being just too young to be aware and appreciative of living in the final afterglow of a serious country. My entire conscious lifetime has been witnessing every British institution become a complete joke.

I could never get into MITHC because of the lazy silliness of the alt-history. 'Greater Nazi Reich', I mean come on. 'Nazi' was a pejorative term used by the Allies, and if occupied France wasn't part of the Reich then the USA sure as hell wouldn't have been.
The Man in the High Castle map is so boring. Why not throw in Italian occupied Gulf States or Ustaše Maine. Have Thialand have a small colony in Oregon. Something more interesting than just divide it at the Rockies.

Interesting how even in Switzerland politics divides firmly on ethnic lines. A strong sign that it's probably unavoidable in any multi-ethnic society. Does LKY ever miss?.
Switzerland: in the recent national parliament election held on 22 October, the right-wing UDC/SVP (~RE) won most of the German-majority regions, while the centre-left PS/SP (S&D) won more of the Francophone-majority regions. In Italian-speaking Ticino, the liberal PLR/FDP (RE)

@x3notrope 2015 Cameron was GOAT tier. Easily the best leader in the West at the time. People forget HOW MUCH PRESSURE he was under when Merkel opened the floodgates and every other major country cucked. He stood firm and accepted an absolute token number in the end.

Are you ready to perish in the doomsday cloud of Atomic Albion?
The UK government on why British submarine forces have no safeguards preventing unauthorised launching of their nuclear weapons: ‘idk I guess we’re just built different’. (Also: how do you prevent nukes from falling into the wrong hands? UK answer: use a bike lock.)

Underdiscussed aspect of Trump is how he doesn't completely conform to the modern Western (really Anglo) expectations of how a heterosexual man should speak about other men. He has elements of an older, more Mediterranean, attitude to these things.
President elect Trump on Prince William: . “I had a great talk with the prince. He’s a good-looking guy. He looked really, very handsome last night. Some people look better in person? He looked great. He looked really nice, and I told him that.”.
