Kudos to the NASCAR Beat Corps for exhibiting patience and accuracy as we awaited word on Newman's condition. Many in American news media could stand to learn from you on how to handle crisis without hearsay, speculation and misinformation. We thank you.
I know I speak for everyone here in saying we are so grateful for the outpouring of concern and support. Everyone is doing well enough. Lots of hugs. Lots of prayers to the Good Lord. 🙏🏼
Here’s the thing:
Whoever did this — and the few who condone it — will go the rest of their lives convincing themselves that their problems were caused by NASCAR or Bubba Wallace or the media when really they’ll be just from being a piece of shit.
Allow me a thread. We have some damn incredible people in our sport and in the communities we race in. We just do. And it doesn’t take chaotic, scary, life-changing moments to see it, but wow do these damn incredible people deliver when they do.
She fought, scrapped, clawed, battled, inspired, uplifted, and did a world of good for a lot of people. We’d all be better if we lived like Sherry. Rest well, my friend.
Lastly, I work for a damn incredible family man who has a damn incredible wife and a damn incredible sister. And, gracious, this family take hits like nothing I’ve ever seen.
Daughter just called home from a 5th-grade field trip to DC and had this to say about the National Gallery of Art:
“Dad, none of the art is wearing clothes. And, um, well... [voice lowers to a whisper] there is lot of detail in the boobs... And the peanuts.”
It’s pending approvals, but so you know plans are being made to produce this diecast in mass. Not a virtual diecast. A real diecast. Who wants one?

Enough of the post-race ish. What Bowman did to squeeze into the next round was storybook. Who figured him to pass Harvick, Truex, Keselowski and Bowyer in the final 6 laps to finish P2? None of us is who.
A year ago it seemed possible he would never race again, but when the flag drops today he will have started them all.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. — you’ve reached the summit. Enjoy the view.
#Appreci88ion
Thoughts going into this race:
- I find myself quite enthused for this event.
- Aside from Elliott and Larson, none of the drivers uniforms seem to fit.
- I appreciate that Kyle Busch plays the role.
- With so many new eyeballs, I want a fight. Don't care who.
Let's Clash.
To all the damn incredible drivers, crew chiefs, team guys, media members, track workers, old friends, new friends, strangers, etc., who sent emails, text messages, tweets, letters, voice mails, balloons, cards, food, etc... you’re amazing.
Moments after making the ballsiest, most insane, championship-advancing move you or I have ever seen,
@RossChastain
reminded everyone in his post-race interview that just 2 yrs ago he was driving a car sponsored by a podcast. He failed to mention it was also the prettiest.
With 16 to go, let me say this.
If you've enjoyed watching
@DaleJr
race tonight, don't forget who made it happen.
@Hellmanns
.
The only ones to step up and put Dale in a race.
Another winner this weekend?
@ClintBowyer
. Dude was solid in his booth debut. I also believe his energy was a needed boost for a long weather delay and late-night race. Go figure, right?
We work with incredible people at NBC Sports. Start with Sam Flood, who I’m convinced would’ve banned Dale from the booth to force him to take the weekend. And how about Letarte, who met Dale at the hospital and made a critical Walmart run for items for Isla. Find a better pal.
I am a proud Dad. My 9-year-old daughter finished 3rd in her cross-country race with a new PR. That’s not why I’m proud.
She spent the last quarter-mile yelling words of encouragement to the girl she raced for second, telling her “You got this!”
That is why I am proud.
We have damn incredible fans. You guys. You’re amazing. On The Dale Jr Download a few weeks ago we gave Dale a hard time for reading Twitter while broadcasting a race. But I know why he does it — he cares about what you think, and he wants you to be happy. You’re worth it.
I hope everyone WINS today except Mercer, Florida Atlantic, NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers not running 9/11 paint schemes, telemarketers, my daughter’s soccer opponent, the Texas Longhorns, Delta variant, and the guy who cut me off at Sam Furr Road and Hwy 115.
Today marks 15 years at
@JRMotorsports
, meaning I have spent one-third of my life working for this company. Wouldn’t change a day of it.
Here’s what it looked like back in 2007:
Thank you, Downloaders, for making me a part of your podcasting Tuesdays (Mondays if you’re an OG) for almost a quarter of my life. I’m off to create, produce and focus on the future of

Themed shows are my idea, not
@DaleJr
’s. If you enjoy DJD, appreciate that 5 times/yr we create episodes for our listeners (each w/ new material) that allows our employees to spend time on themselves & their families. The alternative is we go dark. Health of my team comes first.
We have damn incredible industry professionals working for our race teams — particularly at Hendrick Motorsports — who stepped up in ways that would blow your mind. If I told you one particular act of kindness, you’d think I’m making it up.
We have damn incredible first responders working in our communities, and damn incredible every-day citizens who have hearts of gold and a mighty American spirit.
We have damn incredible people at NASCAR. We just do — top to bottom. They are saints, and I’m not sure we tell them enough. Actually, we don’t at all. You know what we do? Complain. All the time. I’m gonna try to do less of that.
This is a concerning development and I pray for the best for the whole Gibbs family and organization. If you have anything but empathy or concern, my feed will not be the place to share it, I promise.
Ryan
@Blaney
earned every bit of that. Put bumpers where they belonged. Kept it matted when everyone else thought he using his stuff up. Raced like hell all the way to the end. Hat's off to him.
Now the morning after, I’m still replaying this since injecting it into my veins isn’t possible… yet. Has there been a greater players entrance, like, ever?
#FieldOfDreams
We have damn incredible media professionals who showed considerable compassion while pursuing information on a friend and colleague. And to be honest, most of them really just wanted confirmation that the Earnhardts were OK.
We have damn incredible police officers who showed immense grace to a fella who broke a whole bucketload of traffic laws (on two separate pull-overs) as he drove like Bo Duke to catch a flight to Johnson City.
So many cool, nostalgic things about last night, but watching a race from the grandstands at North Wilkesboro Speedway — a sold-out one, at that — tops them all.
Most talk about his 15 consecutive MPDs or 2 Daytona 500s as
@DaleJr
's career crowing achievements. But the man is now a 5-time champion team owner in NASCAR. Let that settle.
We have damn incredible people like Jerry Caldwell, president at Bristol Motor Speedway, who handled even the most trivial requests with swiftness and sincerity... as if he didn’t have the enormity of his biggest event weekend upon him.
Single-highest 24-hour total of listens in Dale Jr Download history? Yeah, it’s this week’s
@MW55
episode. This guy still means a great deal to all of us.

Dale planned to be on vacay this week so, as fate would have it, we pre-taped DJD last Wed. The next day all hell broke loose.
After much deliberation we decided, heck, go with the show. It was fun to record and a step toward normalcy. Hope you enjoy.
Today is
@overstreetyler
’s last day with us. Kids, if you wanna be successful, do what Tyler did:
✅ Get in
✅ Be dependable
✅ Climb by merit
✅ Be dependable
✅ Don’t make excuses
✅ Be dependable
✅ Stay humble
✅ Be dependable
Will miss this guy. Good luck at JGR, TO!
I asked Dale what he told Truex on stage.
“I told him I loved him and I don’t remember much else.”
This Radioactive captures the moment beautifully. Well done
@NASCARONFOX
.
Big moment in NASCAR history happening right now. You’ll always know where you were the night
@SteveLetarte
watched Days Of Thunder for the first time. His review of the movie is coming on Monday’s
@DaleJr
Download.
Thank you
@RacingAmerica
for the nice comments about our podcast and the late model driver who hosts it.
@DaleJr
is about to qualify for tomorrow’s race. The
@DirtyMoMedia
crew is hard at work to recap the day for you with new chapters in the Roots & Revival series.
THIS IS A FANTASTIC IDEA!
Sincerely,
People who double park, skinny-jean designers, fans of boy bands, drinkers of Pumpkin Spice Lattes, fans of Geoffrey Bodine, liars, cheaters, bank-robbers, and basically any asshole ever.
BREAKING: As we move toward a new ballpark & a new era of baseball in Kannapolis, we are asking for your help to rename our franchise. The new identity will debut after the 2019 season ends.

Guest for Monday’s The Dale Jr Download by
@DirtyMoMedia
is KIRK SHELMERDINE. He worked in

since the early 70s. Helped my father win titles. Decided he needed to become a driver himself. Now he’s playing poker, professionally. I got questions. Lots of them.

I’ve signed a letter of intent with
@BMSupdates
to renovate
@FGSpeedway
and bring
@NASCAR
back to Nashville. The business terms of this LOI protect Nashville, with multiple revenue streams to make this a financial success. We will put this landmark back on the national stage.
Can we all agree on this? THANK YOU
@dennyhamlin
and
@RossChastain
for giving
@NASCAR
a rivalry. Good Lord this is the oxygen every sport needs. For that reason I say with love, respect and pure unadulterated selfishness — I hope you never become pals.
In case you missed it,
@MikeDavis88
's Instagram account was hacked yesterday.
After a thorough investigation by the Dirty Mo team, we've decided the hackers deserve their own show.
So excited to have this man in our studio this morning I can hardly stand it. Seriously, where will the conversation go? Earnhardt. Irvan. Allison. TV. Life. Bama. Settle in, you guys. This will be fun.

Sports Illustrated selects

as "Best Rookie Analyst" in its annual sports media awards, citing his meme-worthy enthusiasm and racing knowledge. Also gives a shout-out to his podcast.
Who deserves this year’s honor for best broadcaster?
Best studio show?
Worst host take?
Weirdest innovation?

How good was Ty Norris on DJD? When manipulating a Cup race, getting suspended by NASCAR, and being pissed off about it DOESN’T MAKE the TV show, you know he was good.
By the way, the entire Ty Norris interview is here:
