This is a tragedy, but there is nothing a 10 year old could do that would warrant prosecution. They don’t have the developmental capacity. Charging him as an adult is state sanctioned child abuse. Instances like this are why kids need federal protections.

In an unprecedented move, Louisiana has placed kids on the grounds of Angola, the notorious maximum security adult prison. Kids need support and care, not punishment. This cruelty must stop.
