Mayor Dustin Gettel issued a statement today praising the @UPDSL (UPD) for its commitment to transparency and accountability following a recent traffic stop involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. “I commend the Unified Police Department for their dedication to transparency and accountability following the recent incident involving ICE. UPD's thorough investigation determined that the evidence did not support the claims made, and the citation was appropriately dismissed,” said Mayor Gettel. He continued, “As Mayor, alongside our city council and UPD partners, my priority is to ensure that Midvale remains a welcoming, inclusive, and safe community for all. I encourage all federal agencies to uphold the same standards of accountability and to collaborate closely with local law enforcement. Building trust within our community is essential, and we must work together to prevent unnecessary fear or harm.” Read the full UPD press release for more details:

Our City Council has taken a significant step towards a greener future by joining the Community Renewable Energy Program, aiming for net-100% renewable energy for our community! This initiative will help us transition to renewable sources like wind, solar, geothermal, and hydroelectric, benefiting both our residents and businesses. Midvale is now the 19th community in Utah to join this program, representing about 25% of Rocky Mountain Power’s customers. Curious about what this means for you? Check out the October edition of Marcus' Message by Mayor Marcus Stevenson for all the details. Learn about how this program can stabilize long-term costs, give our community a voice in energy decisions, and improve our local air quality. Mayor Marcus Stevenson, City Council Members, and Unified Fire Authority Chief Dominic Burchett honored two young heroes, Ayat and Olivia, for their remarkable bravery. While playing in their Midvale neighborhood, Ayat and Olivia heard strange noises coming from a nearby garage. They discovered a fire and immediately ran to warn the neighbor and called 911. Thanks to their quick thinking and swift actions, the fire was contained, preventing further destruction. Chief Burchett emphasized the importance of "See Something, Say Something," noting that these type of fires can double in size every minute. He also presented Ayat and Olivia with a special coin, a token of bravery given to those who go above and beyond. Mayor Stevenson awarded the girls a Certificate of Bravery, commending their life-saving actions. Join us in celebrating these young heroes for their courage and quick thinking! 📷📷 #MidvaleHeroes #Bravery #CommunityStrength #UFA #SeeSomethingSaySomething@

Today, Midvale City and Zions Bancorporation celebrated a momentous occasion with the unveiling of a stunning mural at the Zions Bancorporation Technology Center! This 46-foot by 42-foot masterpiece, created by renowned artist Erik Burke (@OUPublicWorks), is a vibrant representation of our shared commitment to innovation and sustainability. It beautifully reflects how art can inspire forward-thinking and environmentally conscious values. The Zions Bancorporation Technology Center stands as a beacon of sustainability and innovation, and it is a highlight of the Jordan Bluffs Project Area. This area has evolved from the Sharon Steel Superfund site into a promising space that now includes housing and this state-of-the-art, sustainably built facility. Commissioned by the Redevelopment Agency of Midvale City (RDA), the mural blends seamlessly with its surroundings, featuring flowers emerging from an open book set against the dramatic peaks of the Wasatch Front Mountains. It symbolizes how beauty and creativity can flourish from knowledge. In appreciation of Midvale City, Zions Bancorporation Technology Center presented a $5,000 check to Mayor Marcus Stevenson for the Midvale Boys & Girls Club. This generous donation underscores their commitment to our community and our future innovators—our local children. #MidvaleCity #JordanBluffs #ZionsBancorporation #ErikBurke #Innovation #Sustainability #PublicArt #CommunityTransformation #Revitalization

We are proud to share that our Mayor has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Utah League of Cities and Towns (ULCT)! The ULCT represents 248 cities and towns in Utah, advocating for municipal government interests at the state and federal levels. In this important role, our Mayor will represent not only Midvale but also the broader interests of municipalities across the state, working with both state legislature and federal officials. In addition to legislative advocacy, the ULCT provides essential information, training, and technical assistance to local officials on municipal issues. They are dedicated to increasing public awareness and understanding of municipal responsibilities, governance, and administration. Our Mayor is excited to take on this new role and is committed to ensuring that cities and towns are represented on the issues that matter most to our communities. Congratulations, Mayor! Thank you for your unwavering dedication to Midvale and to municipalities throughout Utah! #MidvaleMarcus #MidvaleCity #ULCT
